Brink shoots up in price after Steam`s free weekend leads thousands two by two into Splash Damage`s Ark

The price of Brink has just more than doubled , in a climate where the average game falls in price and never goes back up this is pretty cool ... for retailers...and consider when was the last time you saw a PC game go UP in price after launch?

To find out why thegameveda had to play ...handy then that last weekend the game was free to play over on Steam...At that time you could have picked up Brink for around £8 , and that was the special edition at Game , you could also get a similar deal on Amazon .  A couple of weeks ago we were all tearing round Paris in the Battlefield 3 A**a nudge nudge say no more... awaiting or dreading the arrival of Modern Warfare Whatever .... then along come Splash Damage .. distant kin of iD ... with Brink.. 48 hours of Steam play later and thegameveda concluded :

Brink is an enchanting  game , because it is the first multiplayer game in a long time which is actually multiplayer and not in a tribal my clan versus yours manner.  This game`s hook is making  you really feel part of a team even before you turn your first  corner to get to your first enemy or objective . There are vivid primary coloured  parkour ready stages , and to battle in them protagonists that you design and mod  with a literally off the street look for the rebels( UK riot chic as it is known in these looted parts)  and overdone fascist skinning for Ark Security . Together with the elongated faces , jaws and exaggerated features this all takes me back to all those great  anti establishment ( avec rioters and gangs) French films , from La Haine , to  later Luc Besson films like Banlieue 13 and it`s sequel.  And the plot , and indeed  some of the missions even to halt missiles or launch them could be right from a Luc Besson film.

Brink was never meant to be a reviewers game .. it now has a community that is really having fun playing the game ..word of mouth or facebook /twitter/Blackberry messaging is spreading this good news ..and that in turn has managed to actually raise the price of a PC game , for the first time in many years ...but of course ... all this has happened before and will happen again.....for ...

Splash Damage you will remember , is the softco that managed to create a phenomenal online following for Enemy Territory , a free  download extending the gameplay time of  an iD update to Wolfenstein from several hours to now several years ... So they know a thing or two about a good multiplayer game ...

So ....yes you feel the need to save for the Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare Whatever releases but you are missing out until you check out Brink ... and gamer that you are .. you know want to ....

get Brink  in the UK from Game or Zavvi

and in the USA get Brink here
