Sins of A Solar Empire Rebellion play test on Windows 8 single and dual screen tablets

Time to test out some quality PC gaming , this is not a review but the story of my adventures so far In playing Sins of A Solar Empire Rebellion Beta , using Windows 8 Customer Preview and on hardware that includes Atom powered tablets right up to second gen i7 CPUd tablets , via the dual screen Acer Iconia which packs a 1st gen i5 and what you may consider as a humble Intel GMA HD integrated GPU . along with twin 10 point touch screens. We will also play Mass Effect 3 at full spec in screen 1 whilst playing Sins in the second screen ( one handed whilst filming with the new iPad in my other hand) .

Rest assured Ironclad coders , any one who plays or sees anyone playing  the Beta will be buying the game , and with Windows 8 round the corner many will be playing with touch as well as the traditional mouse and keyboard . I hope Ironclad can incorporate more touch friendly controls , for tablet users , this kind of game is going to find a whole new market with upcoming Windows 8 tablets. Microsoft could also get it's act together and include a touch control paradigm in the next Direct X , which  would bring tablet controls universally to PC games without coders needing to fuss. They did it with joysticks and joypads back in the day perhaps it is now time to optimise touch control for pc gaming.

So lets start off with the Intel Atom and NVidia Ion powered Joojoo :

and now let me show you the beauty of  a blue Star on the dual screen Acer Iconia

This is how  we play on Windows 8 with touch and twin screens in portrait mode , the game Window stretched across both touch screens

we can also flip the screens round and play in dual screen landscape mode

of course you can mess with Windows 8 Apps whilst you play and also play something completely different in one screen whilst playing Sins in the other : So thanks to the magic of Dave Perry's Gaikai and him being on good terms with Bioware ( MDK ) we can play through the demo of Mass Effect 3 in ultra high detail on an Intel GMA GPU'd tablet whilst playing the Sins of A Solar Empire Beta , without sweating the machine .. I did all of this one handed of course with the new iPad in my other hand filming jerky documentary style ...yes games offer no challenge to me any more ....

more to follow ! My advice get pre ordering Sins of A Solar Empire Rebellion now , and support Iron Clad . My advice to the coders is to look to throw in some tablet and touch optimisations  and take advantage of the coming Windows 8 tablet storm .

A game as deep and beautiful as Sins floors all those iOS and Android Apps , plus on Steam it has cloud saves so you can continue where you left off on all your favourite devices be they  tablet , laptop and desktop or in thegameveda's case as you can see ..all of the above...
