Your new iPad is mud long live the New New iPad errh 4

Yesterday's Apple announcement was supposed to leave Apple fans in a gentle quandary about whether they needed an iPad Mini to go along with their new iPad.. Barely 7 months young

But horror of horrors a full week before Halloween Apple with an announcement of a twice as fast new new iPad has scared the pips out of the Apple core fan base.

Nothing radical really, Apple need to counter the Windows 8 pro tablets and all in ones. Twice yearly or even more frequent updates are nothing new to PC fans, ask any follower of Intel tech. Your hi spec rig is usually out of date before you complete your online order form.

The problem for Apple acting this way is not the core tech fan, but the tens of millions of vanity buyers who bought their Apple product to pull at Starbucks or these days McDonalds expecting to have the fastest coolest tech for at least a year. These guys are none too happy at the moment.

I say again the challenge to Apples's dominance does not come from rivals faster more powerful and upgradeable hardware it comes from software in the form of Windows 8 which I have used on around 6 tablet pcs from atom to i7 powered and everything in between. The benefits of Windows 8 pro are so significant so enabling ..basically anything you do on your desktop or rig you can do and do faster with Windows 8 and many things you cannot with iOS 6, that the speed bump in the iPad 4 CPU speed is rendered moot other than to massage what Apple perceives to be your soon to be deflated by faster more useful and infinitely more useful i7 powered Windows 8 pro tablet pcs that cost less than your iOS based twice as fast till the next one new new iPad.

Myself I am delighted, I could do with twice the speed encoding and editing videos which is the unexpected and largely sole use I discovered for the new iPad.

The new 13inch Retina Display Mac Book Pro is another iteration of hardware that is going to further confuse the confusion.

All Microsoft have to do to win is simply give the customer what they want and maintain the freedoms of a full desktop OS.

Slowly , slowly Windows 8 usage will escalate , once you use a full Windows 8 Pro tablet going back to an iOS tablet is like playing with a child hood learning toy.That toy running twice as fast simply does not compare, so Apple can ramp up hardware releases but they are looking pretty desperate ..
