DRAGON AGE ORIGINS ULTIMATE EDITION FOR £14.99 and only days left to Signature your Dragon Age 2

Handy if you missed out on the Steam sale or do not fancy waiting around for the 22gb of game+ all 9 dlc and Awakening expansion to download [tha`s me that is].  Bioware former medics that they are always manage to infuse some vague digital interpretation of sex/debauchery  into  their games , after naming their seminal sexy rpg game with Aliens , Mass Effect , I was fully expecting the expansion for Dragon Age , which is really sexy rpg game with Dragons , Dragon Age Arousal , but Awakening is not too far off . There you go I am using sex to sell video games just like the pros........

but take a look at two pictures which define two of the greatest RPG series of our time and ask yourself is this entertainment or exploitation ? And I mean of you the gamer as the pixels cannot feel ...yet ..

so what do you reckon for Dragon Age II or Mass Effect 3 having a trisexual inter species Harem? as paid for DLC of course ...feel exploited yet?

The preorders for Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition UK   are somehow going to be limited to the next few days : So get in soon for the for sexy rpg game with Dragons part deux will be  upon us soon...

Its funny how every sentence becomes innuendo ... MMMMMMMMatron............................

this what EA sent me : I do not believe em , and I will wait for the Ultimate Edition with all 12 DLC packs +/- the add on read 1/3rd of the game they hold back on release .

I mean you are good Bioware , but being good with remotes does not measure up to the experience of the real thing and there`s no paid for DLC required for that ......Hoooooraaahhh!

Meanwhile  over in the USA : check out your offers for Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II

DRAGON AGE II teasing that sexy fire at you from Steam now !

Dragon Age 2 : Confusion

So now I am slightly ...confused , my experience of buying recent Bioware and Bethesda RPGS tells me to hold off : There are too many iterations of Dragon Age 2 and some with time limited offers , there is no clue as to if the retail version will register on Steam . And the dread DLC purchase cycle has already started prematurely , before the main game has been released .

Now consider that Dragon Age Awakenings the prequel  had all this DLC

  • Dragon Age: Origins – The Stone Prisoner (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Warden's Keep (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Return to Ostagar (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening (Expansion Pack)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Darkspawn Chronicles (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Leliana's Song (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – The Golems of Amgarrak (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Origins – Witch Hunt (Downloadable Content)
  • Dragon Age: Ultimate Edition

Purchasing that lot would have pushed your donation to Bioware's horde of gold , closer to £100 than you might at first have expected. And if you waited till this Steam Christmas sale you could have had all that for £11.99 ! All 22gbs of it!

Then consider that Dragon Age 2 will also have at the very least DLC costing the same,if not more ....

You know half of the otherwise excellent game experience , is going to be DLC,or deciding when to buy the DLC .  And you would be better off waiting till the summer or winter sale of this game that you will never have time to play through anyway , especially after the Nintendo 3DS has had its way with your wallet .

Frankly there should be a law against companies selling games like this as incomplete products , you would not expect to pay for half a  Bluray film , and then pay for DLC to complete it .  Avatar ends when the credits role , if a 500 million dollar movie can be released in completion to its audience , as a complete experience without fans having to purchase DLC and  register and log on to  company servers that are going to be shut down eventually any way , why can`t a million dollar video game be released in completion.Avatar took 10 years to make ,so the usual excuse by game companies claiming games take so long to develop is a moot point.

There are multiple choices of options
When are Bioware going to grow up and release a full game - make us wait a year and just release it in one package. When ? Never as the DLC model is too easily lapped up by fans ....for now

Another option would be to release a prestige edition that includes all future DLC free , but consider I got my Dragon Age Ultimate edition for £11.99 , less than a year after I purchased the original collectors edition . Waiting for a Bluray to drop in price may save you £10 , but waiting on a pc/console game can save you £100 ....

EA she loves to tease....
Most annoying thing about the sexy game with Dragons part 2 release is the time limited upgrade of the retail version to the Signature edition , timed to run out on 11/01/10. Like I care , people go to work without ties now, people , they don't want to be told you have to buy game x before date y or you will miss out on Z . The whole point of this digitally distributed gaming revolution is that I can buy what I want when I want ! and get the best deal!

oh really? like all that and all impending 12 DLC packs won't be in the Ultimate Edition come ......October?

So yes some questions has been answered , will Dragon Age 2 hit Steam , yes it will buy it now from here . However a new question has been awakened .There is no news on how or  if the retail versions will register or if any of the so called signature edition nonsense will be included  for pre purchasers of the Steam version . There are a few meagre bonuses at present  .. we are talking real meagre .. here's hoping Gabe works some magic and every one gets upgraded to the Signature Edition .

At present Bioware , EA and Steam have dashed the hopes of many fans , maybe this is all part of the tease that sexy rpg game with dragons part 2 comes with.

Pre-Purchase now to receive two special in-game items! [ why so generous?] 2 whole items yaaaay!

FADESHEAR (sword)
The core of this blade is old. As old as the first smiths who sought a way to battle the nightmares from the land beyond. It has fought the demonic hosts in countless battles. Sometimes it has been held high in triumphant victory. Other times, it has lain broken besides its dying owner. But after every defeat it has always been reclaimed, reforged, and made stronger. Fadeshear has passed through many hands before yours. Now it is your turn to make the demons of the Fade pay for crossing the Veil into the waking world.
  • Improves with each level-up
  • additional damage vs. demons and undead
THE LION OF ORLAIS (shield)
At the height of the Summer War all of Orlais was embroiled in fierce battles. Over the course of the war dozens of contenders for the Imperial Throne emerged – most long forgotten except as footnotes in scholarly tomes. But everyone remembers the gallant young lord Emile Deveraux, “The Golden Prince”. Thought outnumbered at every turn, he racked victory upon victory culminating in the Seventh Battle of Roses. While wearing this shield he broke through his uncle’s vanguard to win the day. He never knew the taste of defeat, instead meeting his end at the hands of a jealous lover in the dead of night.
  • 2 rune slots
  • Adds to health
  • Adds to % XP gain

Abysmal!

The preorders for Dragon Age 2 - Signature Edition UK   and the retail pre order versions of Dragon Age 2 have up to now been the Signature Editions  : in fact there does not seem to be a normal vanilla edition .. now I am even more confused .. I should begin that 22gb download of Dragon Age Ultimate Edition purchased for £11.99, to remind myself that patience is its own virtue...

A warning to Bioware and EA  in recent years I have spent more time thinking about buying your games rather than playing them . Oh I own them all but I have definitely spent more time downloading the games than playing them , soon if Bioware keep bloating their games every fan will spend 100 hours downloading a 30 hour game! Then factor in all the annoying  DLC purchase choices and you come to the golden truth about video games , how much of your life is actually being wasted on sexy RPG games with Dragons or Aliens  , when you could have been up to far nicer things back in the real world with real people ...people!

After this gen of AAA titles up to Mass Effect 3 , Bioware will hit the same RPG development wall that Square Enix hit with its Final Fantasy series. So we have had sexy rpg game with Aliens,Dragons and later this year with Wookies..Where do they take rpg gaming from there?I hope they start making changes to their incomplete game release model , with the DLC hunger they create and the bloatware size of  full game downloads which have many of their fans spending longer downloading Bioware games than actually playing them. And with less time and code devoted to simulating interspecies wooing and mating rituals ,who knows they might yet invigorate the rpg genre that over the years their talent has largely rejuvenated .

Dragon Age 2 Demo playing on a touch screen joojoo using Steam

Yes I know I should be playing this on my gaming pc , but  you know after 10 years of building high end gaming rigs to run  dos games , after figuring out how to slow them down enough , I am more interested in how humbler hardware handles today's top games .

So of course having Steam on my Joojoo , I had to download the Dragon Age 2 Demo , just to see how the ion ,atom , and Joojoo touch screen would handle it .

Gone are the days when games did not scale down to lesser hardware , you can see the game perfectly playable on my joojoo  . note that i do not refer to perfection in my ability to play the game!

Dragon Age 2  and Dragon Age for that matter really need to be played on PC , console owners are not getting the same experience , earlier this week I was about to give up on the game after playing the horrid radial menu ridden Xbox 360 and PS3 versions , coming from a PC standpoint ,it is just not the same game....

The PC demo on steam and the fact that I can play the game on an ion powered Joojoo just sealed my purchase . and now I have to try Mass Effect 1 and 2 .....

Take a look at the demo , apologies for my poor camera ,and screen grabs , playing games on a touch screen with one hand whilst filming is still new to me!, this is on a tablet the press would have you believe could not run a flash video , check the early reviews of the joojoo.... and here it is a Fusion Garage Joojoo playing Dragon Age 2 with touch screen and mouse controls , on Steam , something you will not catch iPad 2 or any Honeycomb tablet doing anytime soon.....

You see after years of upgrading hardware , it is interesting that this week my uber gaming rig sits dormant , whilst  I am having fun playing the latest (and oldest more on that later) games on an Atom powered Ion GPU touch screen tablet....

There is a lot to be said for Windows 7 on tablets , so forget all the nonsense your read re it not being suited to tablets , if you want the freedom of your desktop or laptop in a tablet you need a full OS , the creators of Joojoo would never have conceived a few months down the line that the Joojoo would be playing top PC games , on Steam and Onlive ....

I have to go now my iPad is feeling inadequate......

get the Dragon Age 2 demo from Steam now

Acer Iconia multitasking test XI : Playing Mass Effect 2 on Steam whilst playing Mass Effect 2 on GAIKAI

thegameveda could never decide whether to be Miss or Mr Sheppard in Bioware's latest multiple choice ( to be expected from ex medical students  )  extravaganza

Now thanks to the dual touch screens of the Acer Iconia we all can be  Miss Sheppard and Mr Sheppard at the same time , today's  test stresses the wifi n of the Acer Iconia , using Gakai to play Mass Effect in Screen 2 , whilst also stressing the CPU and Intel HD GPU , and hard disk by playing Mass Effect 2 on screen 1 using Steam  , running the game at respectable ,for tablets and laptops ,1366 768 res.

As you can see the  Acer Iconia has excellent wifi n broadband capabilities : Running Gaikai WHILST running a full Steam game  .Using Gaikai is extremely tasking on your Internet connection the slightest interruption can cause your screen to turn into a Vulcan Transporter malfunction . But not on Iconia !

Gaikai is  promising tech that I have been waiting to comment on , waiting because it's potential has yet to fully realised or decided , at the moment it requires an intensely stable broadband connection . Gaikai unlike onlive is still in Beta , and runs on Java beans , and sometimes it seems those beans get stuck in the machine turning your screen to garbage , or causing fuzzy artifacts . But that is on lesser machines , on the Acer Iconia as you can see in the video , there is no screen tearing and no locking up.

We can also see that the Acer Iconia Intel HD GPU coupled with the i5 GPU and 4 GB of DDR3 , give you a pretty potent gaming experience , far exceeding all the synthetic benchmarks , the Iconia is also the only tablet packing a 640 gb hard disk , so you really can bring a significant chunk of your Steam collection with you . Or at least one or two of the latest games . HDD space is irrelevant when using streaming services like Gaikai

Gaikai is something to wake up and pay attention to , together with the likes of Onlive , and the more traditional Steam , Impulse , and perhaps AWOMO  , these are the technologies that are evolving video gaming , largely independent of hardware ,platform holder or  OS .

Just a short time ago  the only expected  advances in gaming were totally hardware upgrade  dependent  with the boffins at iD , Digital Extremes ,Crytek,  nVidia , ATI, AMD and Intel  fuelling the endless upgrade cycle.

Gaikai is from  Shiney person Dave Perry, he of Every one's a Wally and Pyjamarama fame , ( or Earthworm Jim and MDK fame to our US cousins). Here is a guy who unlike that most beloved  famously harsh self critic Peter I promised you a Miracle Molyneux actually delivers .

Dave the Embedder:

There were signs of GAIKAI even in Dave Perry's earliest classics , Pyjamarama and Everyones a Wally , all contained full games  embedded and running within windows ( they were called screens in those days ) within the main games . It was a pleasure to seek out these hidden games  , Space Invaders with kitchen utensils +/- colour clash = awesome .  20 odd years later and Dave returns now embedding games in what we call browsers on something called the Internet...

Gaikai has come a long way , in the last couple of months , below you can see some grabs of  it running full screen on a joojoo tablet . Mass Effect 2 running from a browser  , any game can be demoed this way , any game could be run this way ....  wow 20 years and all the colour clash is gone .. brings tears to an old ZX Spectrum owners eyes....and Yvonne is looking pretty cool too....

those spikes along Jokers arms are signs of stream failure and not our pal Seth reverting to his Werewolf Buffy previous self. The capture is from a test I did on Gaikai using a joojoo tablet last month ..happily  these flaws are gone from Gaikai in it's present form , as you can see from the Acer Iconia video , even playing a Steam game at the same time does not interrupt the stream on the Acer Iconia and Joker looks sharper than ever...

A year ago I would not have believed  something like GAIKAI could work , I had hopes , which is why when the world turned iPad , I got hold of at least 2 Windows tablets  as well, and waited. A year on we have both Onlive , GAIKAI ,Unity powering the likes of Battlestar Galactica online from browsers ,  a nice twist in the  evolution of gaming , independent of hardware and software monopolies  , with the cloud making hardware choices irrelevant , all that matters is your Internet connection and if your  machine can run a full OS and browser ..your $1000 tablet can run a full browser and OS can't it ?... sorry iOS and Android fans!

Try it for yourself ... here  at GAIKAI , just wait for the pop up at the bottom of the screen!

For a limited time you can get Mass Effect 2 free when you purchase an EA game , your best option  the EA store which has a 50% off sale on this Easter weekend. Crysis 2+Mass Effect 2 for £17.95 ,not bad !

Mass Effect 2 played on an Atom powered joojoo as fast as your l33t pc ..faster infact!......

The most impressive game at E3 2011 ... was most impressive

And that would have to be Bioware`s Star Wars The Old Republic ... if it can manage to weave us into the plot you see in the trailer ( as opposed to prancing around with pets and   watching Star Wars dignitaries land and take off from afar )

here is the latest trailer , remember you can trust Bioware ... they`re doctors!

In fact E3 2011 , showed the PC simply destroys the ageing consoles , in every way , there is nothing that touches its speed , ease of game delivery ( Steam , Onlive ,Gaikai, Mac App Store ,and EA`s Origin) . Hardware is improving at a speed console companies can only dream of , and then scrape up the lower end of to use in the "next gen" of consoles . Simply put a game like  Skyrim is going to rock on a 3 screen 30 inch 7680 by 1200 set up , and the likes of TOR will shine on our i7 tablets , the rest of y`all can play with the bathroom appliance inspired Wii U and the should have been a tablet NGP ..sorry PSVita... and remember they expect you to play the same games you were playing 25 years ago ...

If anything the freed Bungie , Cliffy B and the Unreal crew , Carmack et al at iD , may finally wake up to the coolest thing about the games industry ,no,  not prancing around at keynotes for console manufacturers... but  the real evolution en masse from console gamers to PC gamers   . Uber developers should heed the signs from E3 2011 , the console market is in its traditional downward spiral phase , it cannot evolve , whilst the PC and Mac continue to evolve , and  no gaming platform that evolves faster than the  PC .... or throws up more surprises !!! It did after all throw you guys up after all did it not .....?

And now your EA Account and BioWare account have been Hacked all your birthdays are belong 2 the Illuminati

The way EVERY online gaming company is being hacked is THE story of this year from Sony,Sega , Nintendo to EA BioWare , SOE ,Codemasters , and the list goes on ... Not a week goes by without one of these companies emailing you to apologise .So thanks to Sony, Sega ,EA , Bioware , SOE the Codees , millions of people now know my name and date of birth .. perhaps I will be getting many more birthday cards this year ??

Oh  Mulder .....

If this goes on I may start believing my own favourite conspiracy... no not the one involving anal probes... or the one involving the grassy knoll.. not even the one involving the Illuminati.... no I speak of the greatest conspiracy theory of all time : the global conspiracy against gamers ...  of course the global conspiracy against gamers may be all encompassing and involve anal probes , 2nd gunmen on grassy knolls , and the Illuminati ....

Adam Wueshaupt founded the Illuminati on May 1 1776 my EA account was hacked in June 2011 obviously connected obviously ...where`s my Beaver puppet...ahhh that`s better....

Targeting gamers is hardly going to stop the world , I mean we are not exactly the most useful  part of humanity neither are we  malevolent.....we mostly chew bubblegum and kick alien ass ...and we are outta... Hey Listen.....maybe it is the potential we have , saving princesses , managing cities , glassing worlds, solving crimes ,catapulting Aves , and solving mysteries ,  maybe it is because some pensioner run dictatorship out there fear the Face Book Twitter generation ... the generation that is finally changing the world ... or our local town .. or school ... or university ..Prime Minister or President.. we really can be the change we want to see in the world .. and it all started with a game....

You gamer , face booker , twitterer  are the equivalent of a Hippie but with power ... virtual power ... that changes economies ... can topple dictators ... elect presidents ...  And this is threatening to people : the hackers and the people behind the hackers :remember what they did to the Hippies?  Hair Peace ... that is old ..man...  after Face Book and twitter we got Web Peace ...

Think about it the most powerful change being brought about in the world today is through the internet and by gamers .or people who were gamers! The greatest international coming together of peoples is through the internet , gaming , social gaming , social networking not your traditional power bases... So this is highly threatening to the Illuminati , who hailing from 1776 are not too down or savvy with the interweb or for that matter video games which seem to be an anethema to many of our  World leaders ( though thankfully not David Cameron who likes Angry Birds ... but perhaps that`s just cover for an old Bullingdon Boy!). The hackers may be 19 year old Essex boys but the power behind them... that is what has thegameveda Muldering these questions...

Power to the gamers ... change your log in details ..they may take our names , they may take our passwords ... but we will never be defeated ... and besides that stuff is already out there anyway

Maybe we should have a protest where we just out our details on face book so all this hacking nonsense is rendered moot ... you know... my details are on my Face Book page so hack on Mr Hacker ....you are  totally irrelevant....

Lastly being the jaded gamer of 3 decades that I am , my neurons frazzled and warped by everything fro, games of Star Trek on mainframes of the 70s to 2011`s Child of Eden on Kinect ... I have to ask IS THIS ALL PART OF THE GAME ... if so could I save now I need... a bacon shake break...

below is the gist of the  email you will receive from EA and BioWare , incidentally if EA`s Origin download service is linked to your EA account then this is not a very good omen for the newly launched download service... plus you will have games across consoles and PC connected to this one EA account...

We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on your EA account are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. We advise all of our fans to always be aware of any suspicious emails or account activity and report any suspicious emails and account activity to Customer Support at 1-877-357-6007.
