Something to get out and play after the impending Sithiness of Force Unleashed 2 leaves you screaming like a Rancor keeper who has just had his favourite beast portcullis`d by some young idealistic oik with paternal abandonment issues and overburdened with chores on his uncles moisture farm ! If only these moisture farmers let their nephews chill and go play with their friends power converters .....

The Rebel Assault Series heralded the CDROM era on pc , and would work awesomely on touch screens like the ipad , joojoo and Libretto W100 if anyone is listening .Hmmmh now there is an idea I may try installing this lot to the W100 to see what happens. The Dark Forces demo alone is more impressive than any latter day Star Wars games such as the Force Unleashed series, this is where we were introduced to Kyle Katarn and Dark Troopers, and TIE Fighter , well is the greatest Star Wars game ever written , sorry, what was that , yes My Emperor , a rebellion to crush? I`ll hop in my Tyderian and get right on it as soon as I manage to slow my pc down enough to run the game ....

Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures Calling all Jedi Sith Hutt enslaved princesses and nerf herders of the scruffy looking variety
It's a great weekend to be a Lucasarts fan , Monkey Island games are going cheap onApple iPhone and Ipad and Steam , Star Wars Clone Wars series 3 just premiered , and you know how locked in your Episode IV,V,VI snobbery in between bbqing bantha steaks and doing your chores before heading off to Toshi station to play with power converters, you sometimes give in to kitsch and wonder what it would be like to be in the Clone Wars. Well wonder no more Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures puts you right in to series ,or in between episodes,or somewhere not too far far away , you feel like you are no longer simply waiting for Friday to down... Sorry watch the next episode , now you and every other Lucasite on the planet will be running around ,flying ,speeder biking and more in THE locations we just spent 2 seasons watching. Have you ever wanted to race through Corruscant on speeder bikes against your friends ,now you can.There are a myriad of games including on rails space and sky battles in your Jedi star fighter with 100s of on screen enemies to score points off This is simply the most fun Star Wars game in two decades , and did I mention ITS FREE? Well enough of it until you you go all Pavlovian and need to pay $6 a month or shell out for a lifetime sub! As it is I am a Jedi already having had my baby formula spiked with midichlorians and having funded Lucasarts over the entire course of my life .....scary Anyway...you know a game is off to a good start when Mace Windu hands you a light sabre after pep talks from Yoda and the rest of the Scooby gang including Scrappy ,sorry , Snips as Anakin calls her. It's also a good sign that the main game hub is full of players , there's too many of them, indeed you may find you have to wait your turn to play some of the games. Unexpected this is: y'all can wait for Bioware and the Old Republic , but in the meantime there's a Jedi moot a happening and on a Star Wars Clone Wars server far far away Mace Windu is holding a light sabre with your name on it , and a very strange name it will be if you let the game choose it for you. Playing Star Wars X-Wing Alliance on Toshiba Libretto whilst waiting for the Star Wars The Old Republic Beta invite
Thegameveda has been a total sulking Wookie ( complete with sound effects ) over the continued wait for the Star Wars The Old Republic Beta invite , last week you could sign up at the official site and test your machine , and ... nothing. as of yet .
So what is a sulking Wookie to do ? Well fire up the old Millenium Falcon and take on the Empire for the last time .. again..
Und so , it's time for a little Larry Holland celebration at thegameveda .
The Larry Holland part is played by Totally games` Star Wars X Wing Alliance , the one where you find out how many Bothan's died.
The little part is thanks to the Toshiba Libretto , which lets you play this classic in the palms of your hands, well ok my hands are holding a wireless 360 pad , but you get the idea .
The displays on the Libretto are razor sharp and bright , the video is low res ! the displays are running at 50 % brightness in this test . Millions of voices are rejoicing , now it has been proven that you can play X Wing Alliance in the tiniest of confined spaces , at the back of class or the lecture theatre , in your coffin hotel in Shinjuku , or the shed at the back of your garden all thanks to the wonder that is the Toshiba Libretto....
If you are a fan of PC classics , and tablets , the key thing to go for is a 32 bit version of Windows , this gives you maximum compatibility over the widest range of your favourite games .
Next thegameveda will return with some Star Trek gaming on the Toshiba Libretto and some say Larry Holland's finest game

The most impressive game at E3 2011 ... was most impressive
And that would have to be Bioware`s Star Wars The Old Republic ... if it can manage to weave us into the plot you see in the trailer ( as opposed to prancing around with pets and watching Star Wars dignitaries land and take off from afar )
here is the latest trailer , remember you can trust Bioware ... they`re doctors!
In fact E3 2011 , showed the PC simply destroys the ageing consoles , in every way , there is nothing that touches its speed , ease of game delivery ( Steam , Onlive ,Gaikai, Mac App Store ,and EA`s Origin) . Hardware is improving at a speed console companies can only dream of , and then scrape up the lower end of to use in the "next gen" of consoles . Simply put a game like Skyrim
is going to rock on a 3 screen 30 inch 7680 by 1200 set up , and the likes of TOR will shine on our i7 tablets , the rest of y`all can play with the bathroom appliance inspired Wii U and the should have been a tablet NGP ..sorry PSVita... and remember they expect you to play the same games you were playing 25 years ago ... If anything the freed Bungie , Cliffy B and the Unreal crew , Carmack et al at iD , may finally wake up to the coolest thing about the games industry ,no, not prancing around at keynotes for console manufacturers... but the real evolution en masse from console gamers to PC gamers . Uber developers should heed the signs from E3 2011 , the console market is in its traditional downward spiral phase , it cannot evolve , whilst the PC and Mac continue to evolve , and no gaming platform that evolves faster than the PC .... or throws up more surprises !!! It did after all throw you guys up after all did it not .....?

The Star Wars game you were looking for ...Star Wars The Old Republic has pre orders moving along rather nicely
The game of E3 was Bioware's latest and you could think riskiest adventure to date . But Star Wars The Old Republic is set not only to take on the mass of free to play MMOs , but also to break preorder records for a PC game , the Origin version for instance comes with a caveat that you will be contacted at a later date to be told if your pre order was successful ... Amazon is also just registering interest at the moment but there is another hope...
Much better then to go for the game specialist retail pre order in the UK at Game if you want the most collectible PC game this side of Assassin`s Creed , the £129.99 edition is going to be the most sought after PC game for hoarders this year ... or you could come to your senses and hunt around for the vanilla version from £29.99 to £39.99 again dependent on when you time your purchase from the likes of Zavvi and Game . And then use the £100 you just saved to buy game time ...
Traditionally the price of some PC MMOs , Star Trek Online for instance bombs in the first 2 months of release , just google the price of STO and you will see .... But such is the prestige of Bioware that we may see Star Wars The Old Republic not only hold it`s value but with the Collectors edition (avec statue) actually rise , in the way that other MMO of legend World of Warcraft`s collectors editions are liable to do from time to time ...

STAR WARS THE OLD REPUBLIC INC EARLY GAME ACCESS FOR £35.86
Probably the only game I buy that I may actually play this year ( or next if it gets delayed ) , pick up Star Wars The Old Republic including the promise of early game acess ( 2 weeks of server testing before they shred your character and make you start again) for just £35.86

You will be a Jedi or Sith before Christmas as Bioware tries not and does on 22/12/11
Friends ,Ewoks , and scruffy looking nerf herders this will be a day long remembered for Star Wars The Old Republic has a release date set in Carbonite I guess Bioware realised delay leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to... ..cancelled orders.....
pre-order in the UK from Zavvi or Game where the launch date is 22/12/11 and Star Wars the Old Republic USA
launches on 20/12/11 ( the USA will get the day 1 bugs whilst the UK gets the first patch .... ) Sith you later people.....
