Most of us grew up with the notion of the benevolent Hacker , in the 80s we had the kid that through a spanner into a W.O.P.R.
to save the world from thermonuclear Armageddon , and men in neon highlighted tights throwing glowing discs around after being Rezzed into their personal computers , in the 90s we had the romantic anti (now A.I.) establishment hackers championed by William Gibson and the Wachowski bros, usually accompanied by lovely razor finger nail tipped assassins /bodyguards . Yes anyone could easily fall for the romantic nature of hacking , but this is just science fiction , cyberspace is not just where corporations of evil lurk , in the noughties it is where your life lives , those corporations hold your bank , health , personal and of course the most valuable of all data : gaming details.The Sony Hacks did not just take down , in fact they did not take down in any way Sony , they damaged the little people you and me , you know the type of person the science fictional version of Hackers always purport to protect. The type of person who is going to stick to using PSN cards to purchase games in future!
So 3 of the Sony Hackers are caught , and there is nothing Neuromantic about what they did.
Who knows once they have had around 30 years in Levinworth , they may prove useful in taking down Wintermute .. or saving the world from a W.O.P.R. or two....
This just in the latest account Hack , Codemasters accounts have been leached and all your info is out there once again . Why bother , just throw it up on face book and fuggedaboutit.....
