Dear Steve Jobs : re your resignation as CEO of Apple

Dear Steve Jobs ,


your recent resignation as CEO of Apple ...got me thinking ....


The thing about your genuine Geek is they are mentally made of Kevlar , they are the dude that got laughed at in school for rushing home to tinker with soldering irons and "computers" with their best pal Wosniak in their moms garage , they are the young promising Harvard ungraduates that get laughed at for ditching their course , pulling a fast one on IBM , rejigging some old code and dreaming of putting that code into a computer on every desk in every home ( for a nice fee ), or even of late the curly haired kid who got dumped in college by some girl who told him to go tinker with his computer game , the same curly haired geek that well .... you know the rest ...


See Geeks are made of the hard stuff , if not always the right stuff and none come tougher than you sir , Mr Steve Jobs . And now that you are about to finish your UFO , the Cupertino Mothership ..  and are stepping down as CEO , and staying on as Chairman and Apple Employee .... some are worried ... Mostly tech blogs who seem to be crying buckets ....


Though we the wiser of your fans  (s)wipe away our texted tears ( of joy or pain ) ,  for  we are the lucky generation that has grown up with  yourself Mr Jobs , Mr Gates and the young whipper snapper Zuckerburg , we have seen the dawn of the computer and Internet age . Where dreamers can actually achieve , and big business has not totally  taken control . We saw the "keynotes " delivered in finest polo necked sweaters, sandals and jeans ...  lives have been changed , revolutions have succeeded (really!), all thanks to Geek software and hardware ... but big business is taking hold now  ....


You see Microsoft is not the same force it was when Gates was at the helm , neither will Apple be without you Steve as CEO , and this was  inevitable , business interests now direct Microsoft and Apple , when you become the most valuable brand on the planet , you become the brand  , the dividend , the stock report , and you lose the heart soul of the pioneer or the founder.. this is not new it happened to a certain Mr Ford over a century ago . And it will happen to Mr Zuckerburg and the t shirted scooter riding Google oompa loompas .. 


A quick glance through all the usual suspect Apple Centric blogs  reveals tech bloggers crying buckets and writing articles that look more like obituaries . This is wrong neither Apple nor  you Steve are about to stop doing what you do ...


All Geeks know ... that all Geeks are Jedi ... you Steve may have been struck down as CEO by the flashing light sabre of cruel fate but you  will rise more powerful than ever as Chairman and in the guise of a humble Apple employee. Wait isn't that what Senator Palpatine /Darth Sidious did in Episode whatever?


Seriously Mr  Jobs , thanks for the journey , watching technology evolve and seeing the way it changes lives across the world , the millions of jobs that have been created , and for showing us nothing can get a Geek down , I have had so much fun fighting with my Mac loving friends ( all the way from the Apple Lisa days)  , playing Gates vs Jobs , Windows vs Mac , or just being mesmerised by the best salesman I have ever seen try to make a sale , even had me going crazy for the iPad and iPad 2 ... and I mean crazy that I could not get hold of one!


As always stay tough as you were , as you are and may you keep polarising your audience with your magic show for years to come ....
