There in the virtual jungles of `Nam you might come to a frightening realisation that the average age of your fellow virtual soldiers sent to Vietnam is around 19 , or even less than the average age of those who were sent to Vietnam and incidentally are serving in Afghanistan ... Who says games cannot be thought provoking ? Oh the humanity ...or lack of it ... or is it , is the reason Muddle of Honor is so berated its closeness to real events? When are softcos exploiting death and suffering and the horror of War , and I mean for our side too , to make a quick buck ?
Will we ever see a virtual anti war protest using these games ? Could several decades of modern warfare FPS start to put us off conflict , remember the feeling that landing and lasting seconds on a certain virtual Omaha Beach for instance in the original Medal of Honor evoked?
You too may also chose to ponder these and other questions the next time you are on the virtual battlefields or taking cover in the virtual trenches.....
