Free post PSN SOE Hack games from Sony: Letting the Trojan Horse back in or smashing a Sony Piñata?

Get up stand up don't believe the hype
Over on the EU blog yesterday Sony announced its un-severance package , it's make up offer , like a very bad ex girl/boyfriend that comes back with an enticing offer ..after they have been caught  abusing your credit card ,  and trust ....revealing private details to the world ..

Should you take them back , for like ancient Achaeans  , they bare gifts  (in this case of free games ), for your  PS3 and PSP ( PSN was also not functioning in Homers time), is that enough for you to hand over your personal details , and shiny new credit card , and rekindle the old relationship ? What was that old presidential chestnut , fool me once .... fool me ag`in ..maybe we should all just change our PSN tags to Dubbya...

Sony CEO`s big pimpin` on the PS3
I am as inclined to offer Sony my new credit card as I would be inclined to offer it to an ex girlfriend turning up with a couple of free PS3 games ... The PSN hack needs to be resolved in court , in international court , no amount of short term security is going to protect either your personal or credit card details , unless and until an independent inquiry is conducted into the Sony PSN and SOE hacks .We do not need free games , we need full and free independent , government level investigation , we need court class actions to run their course .

The mouse that caught the cat ?
Sony is famously unhesitating in pursuing customers* who it sees harming it`s business, driving teenagers to flee their country for fear of prosecution, switching off or removing functionality as it sees fit  , now it is customers who are going to pursue Sony . You will see ambulance chasers chasing mice chasing cats , big suited Sony cats through courts....and they will catch them !

*hackers were customers once....oh the humanity.....

Sony facing righteous fire from the 101 million dragons
Goliath is always the customer , not the company , as so many businesses these days forget ,customers pay their wages.Interestingly the offer of free games is announced for the EU first , Sony is stronger here than anywhere , but if legal action starts to take off ,the EU will take a far harsher stance with Sony than they would get in the USA or Japan , just ask Microsoft and Nintendo . In the EU this can happen and will happen without the need for ambulance chasing lawyers pursuing class actions.

Be the change that you want to see in the Internet
The Sony hack is an opportunity for you the 101 million dragons to change online gaming for ever

write/facebook/tweet /speak  to your Senator or MP ( or benevolent dictator/monarch*,**)

1. demand strict and free peremanent Internet security from online companies that store our details And I mean government level encryption , protection and checks. So that any company that in the course of its function stores data ,not only encrypts it but protects it . Or they can go back to selling cartridges
2. demand a formal public open independent investigation into the Sony hack
3. demand that ALL online games companies and media companies have in future to adhere to the findings and recommendations of that inquiry :globally
4. Demand such companies pass a certification and are tested regularly
5.go to your window and scream I am as angry as hell and am not going to ta... sorry go watch Network instead!
6. demand they do this now and are not allowed to bribe us with 2 or 3 free games  and 1 year of free security , which we will have to pay for from next year and will likely be bypassed by the next lot of hackers.
7. Find the hackers , learn from them and create your protection protocol from that information , do not rely on scaremongering overcharging ineffectual Internet security firms seeking to exploit this situation.
8. download your free 2 ps3 games and PSP games , and have some fun gaming whilst the wheels of justice turn and make the Internet a better and safer place

* take special care  when contacting dictators or Monarchs , in some cases they tend to be worse than global giants like Sony...... but hey.. Viva la revolucion!
**  PSN may not be available in some territories run by absolute dictators or monarchs or in any territory where Sony is run by absolute incompetents ( in nice suits)

To restore confidence in Sony there needs to be high level resignation on both Eastern and Western fronts of the Sony empire , this will in the end benefit Sony and its 100s of millions of fans.

For the Sony hack is just the latest misfire by the heads of Sony in the USA, EU and Japan .
Over the last half decade Sony has gone from rock solid foundations with the most popular and innovative tech , to overpriced hardware launches , missing out on the entire mp3 /iTunes market , missing the tablet revolution , and falling behind Microsoft for core gamer money , and Nintendo for Casual .  And now way behind Apple in everything from design  , to delivery , price ,reliability and most damagingly brand kudos.

The PlayStation hack and Sony's downward spiral is caused by out of touch CEOs and management across its business model . Think how Steve Jobs or master Gates elevate Apple and Microsoft . Do any of the Sony heads do this ? even if they are recently knighted?

Sony should see the PSN hack as an opportunity to do some spring cleaning , clear the old boys from management and get some fresh new talent , perhaps poach some from Apple , Google et al.

The restoration of PSN and SOE services is allegedly happening as I type this , but it is happening without any public inquiry into the matter , within a week over 100 million people will have mostly entrusted Sony with new details and credit card information , all for the sake of 2 PS3 games and a maybe a PSP one , this is a  Piñata , but it is also potentially a Trojan Piñata .

Governments need to pay attention to this , and not allow companies to get away with lax online security breaches.
