Has D.I.C.E. rolled snake eyes with the Medal Of Honor Multiplayer Beta?

A  few minutes into the Medal of Honor Beta you come to the conclusion this is far from the finished article,the maps are small ,your character teleports and dies more than a Star Trek TOS red shirt , a few hours of play later , you become aware this is nowhere near as polished as the Battlefield  Bad Company 2 Beta , just 2 maps of which I played for several months alone ,more than the corresponding full version of COD ,the Beta was that good.


D.I.C.E own this arena , COD and the rest do not come close to the beauty and balance , the ebb and flow of the Battlefield series, which has been arrived at  from carefully and sometimes painfully [for fans] evolving a game mechanic formula over half a decade from Codename Eagle through the Battlefield series.


At the moment the ebb and flow mechanics of the Battlefield series are not on show in the  Medal of Honor Beta  , in game  you are dead before you can get a bead on the map , happy campers waiting at your spawn points of which there are too few,  maps on the Beta at the moment are too small , you can spend the entire battle just getting hell fired or  wiped out by rocket launchers from an unseen enemy never moving beyond the SPAWN POINT,  little balance exists at present but this only a Beta .It should be easier on a slower console PS3/360 ,  on a super fast PC  the frame rate is sooo high I am not just getting 150 fps , but 150 deaths per second! Maybe this is realistic ! Seriously for the beautiful ebb and flow game mechanic that is the  D.I.C.E. calling card , more balancing is going to be required.

I shouldn't worry though , this looks like early code released to the masses primarily to stress EA servers ,  perhaps  to counter all the N-E-G-A-T-I-V-E W-A-V-E-S the press and media have been throwing at the setting and to pre empt the  juggernaut  Black Ops launch campaign that is days away now.


I think we should take the Medal Of Honor Beta for what it is a server stress test with some tacked on game play , the major concern seems to be to get as many players in game , spawning and re spawning to see if the servers can handle it . Wow gamer you are now helping to develop games, but you won`t half feel dirty and used by the 300th death by hellfire from an unseen enemy ...and kind of like reality you will be pushed 2 inches back for every inch of ground you gain...

All is not lost you see in the end  I pre-ordered just to get the Battlefield 3 Beta invite
