PS Vita pre order decisions : Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention for £29.99

Got my Uncharted , Wipeout , and death metal fix ala Army Corps of Hell , now for the long haul , it is time to pre order Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention (PS Vita) for £29.99 , true it will not be out for a while , but this is the best pre order price going.... 

And speaking of getting things going , the PS Vita is going to thrive on releases like this exclusive version of Disgaea , Sony is going to steadily pick up core fans  with a treasure trove of core games that can now be done justice thanks to the inclusion of twin sticks , touch and hardware close enough to home consoles. 


There will be a point when your favourite PS3 classic gets an exclusive update or version  and  at that point you will get back on the Sony wagon , and leave your phone for ...you know like calling people perhaps about how you are just playing the most awesome hand held version of your favourite console game.... speaking of which on to my next PS Vita decision ....

Pandoras Tower Collectors Edition  is yours for just £39.95 this is the third of the great JRPG sequence , one of the finest to hit any machine in gaming history , I speak of course of  Xenoblade Chronicles , The Last Story , and this Pandora's Tower … Ironic really that the console that with it's launch pulled in casual gamers with motion controls ,mini game compilations and 1st party titles is now pulling in core gamers by droves with core JRPG games that are the envy of PS3 and Xbox 360 fans.

Pandora's Tower Special Edition for £35.97

Pandora's Tower Is the third great core RPG in a row to grace the final months of the Nintendo Wii . Isn't it so Alanis that the core Xbox 360 is going out with casual kinect drivel like Star Wars Kinect whilst the casual Wii is going out courting the core gamer with the likes of Xenoblade Chronicles , The Last Story Limited Edition and Pandora's Tower - Special Edition ) Things are looking up for the Nintendo Wii U ! .

Disgaea 3 Absence of Detention for £29.86 cementing PS Vita Core credentials

Another week another hand held game launches , unlike on iOS or Android ,  Disgaea 3 Absence of Detention   is not free , nor is it $0.99 or 69p ,  no in the UK it is a full price launch at £29.86 . This is a bold statement from Sony , the PS Vita is a core gaming device with premium prices for its software .  And I am more than happy to pay for class like this , and this is in a week where I picked up the likes of Infinity Blade II for $4.99 , GTA III for 2.99 , and Jobs (iWorship his Shadow)  knows how many free apps for the new iPad ..

With Disgaea 3 Absence of Detention all that PS3 Disgaea 3 loveliness with all the DLC included is yours to play in OLED lit glory right in the palm of your hands. The PSVita is the home of core hand held gaming , yes I have iOS apps for some distraction or to satisfy casual curiosity , but that 9.7 inch hot`n`heavy new iPad is no match for the quad core OLED and perfect for touch gaming sized screened PS Vita . The PS Vita manages to replicate console gaming in your hands better than any other device to date , as Uncharted , Wipeout , Ninja Gaiden  , Persona  , Unit 13 and now Disgaea 3 players can attest. I admire the graphics and speed of  the Modern Combat and Infinity Blade series on the iPad , but I PLAY Unit 13 on the Vita . The experience of playing these games is so different and frankly superior to iOS and Android fumbling that Sony with the PS Vita and Nintendo with their 3DS should stick to their guns , the 3DS and PS Vita are going to be fine and occupy a space that iOS and Android cannot reach until some one wakes up and includes a decent controlling device.

Does it hurt me to pay full price for a handheld game ? Hell no the fact that iOS games are cheap , does not alter my purchase decisions at all , after all if we are going down that route for choosing gaming devices , then your laptop or PC has several million free gaming options .

The real long term success marker for a gaming platform is quality not price.

So  who will win Sony ? Microsoft? Apple? Nintendo or Google?

Persona 4 Golden intro putting the Vita back into the PS Vita

Persona 4 Golden is one of those AAA games that Sony correctly hopes will inject some much needed vitality into the PS Vita , of course there is nothing to stop Atlus releasing the series on iOS, Android or eventually even as a Windows 8 App , yes people there was a Persona game on PC. Of course none will look quite as cool as the beautifully portable OLED lit PS Vita version . Also at the measured rate Atlus move you could be waiting a few years before you see any other version.

The World Ends With You solo remix on iOS has Square Enix Reaping Core gamer loyalty and cash

Evidence that it is game over for the age of platform exclusives comes no clearer than in the form of The World Ends with You: Solo Remix for iPad - SQUARE ENIX ..at this rate it will not be long before we see ATLUS bringing Persona to iOS, Android and Windows 8.. These are premium games that command premium prices and attract core gamers to what were considered casual gaming devices ...not any longer if Square Enix's success is anything to go by... I just adore the music in this game, stick on some good quality cans when you play half the atmosphere of this game is created by the tunes those sickly sweet yet beautifully raw faux j-pop classics.. Best sound track in a Japanese game sporting actual songs since the original Jet Set Radio...Does it hurt me paying this much for an iOS game , of course not Nintendo and Sony have had us paying up to 5 times this amount for cartridges and discs that eventually die whereas our digital copies on iOS live on for ever...
