The major saves are Just Cause , which no pc games fan should be without ,especially since you get DirectX 11 fx thrown exclusive to this version, Batman Gotyr , and the later Tomb Raider series. Since many of these games use Steam , that's a complete bonus, also do not miss the Io. Interactive games , Mini Ninjas ,and Hitman Bloodmoney Get to choosing the good stuff here Oh and they also have the Thief series including Thief Gold , as well as Deus Ex and Invisible War going so cheap I cannot bare to type the prices, there is also Project Eden which no fan of adventure games should be without , a truly original game which allowed the then quite bored developers of Tomb Raider to let loose their creative potential, producing a single player coop third person multi character adventure game that no one has matched to date...Way ahead of it's time and gaming design genius.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 to include a game WITH the cgi ...?

FF XIII was one of several post FFVII , Square Enix classics that I have only played the first hour of , before I started counting virtual sheep and pulling some zzzzzs . Whoa I almost nodded off just typing about it.

Of course Square and Enix are game development gods  , but after the zenith of JRPG that FFVII represents  , they have constantly made the mistake that all recent faltering Japanese coders have , they tried to appeal to the West too much . And in so doing lost  the charm and unique qualities that so enchanted a generation, a generation of gaijin like me for that matter! . If I were to shout Sephiroth at you , it would spark fond memories , no ? Or talk about that nice girl Tifa , would that not bring a tear to your eye?

Did you feel that?  The key rush in a great RPG , and the great JRPGs  is that they evoke emotions , from early Rogue and Ultima games ,  Bioware classics , Silicon Knights Blood Omen Legacy of Kain,Planescape Torment, the Fallout series , Castlevania SOTN , and  of course Miyamoto san  with Zelda , and the many Snes rpg classics ,  all the great role playing games make you FEEL .

In  FFVII Square gave us an rpg with the greatest emotive power ever in a video game. It is quite ironic then that although the Playstation 2 was heralded as having an EMOTION ENGINE by its creator none of its games seem to take advantage , including the many Final Fantasy games released for the PS2  . To this day  it is a Playstation one game that makes generations cry when they play it - due to the power of the plot!  . FFXIII , XII , X-2 etc do not ,well at least not in that way!So it is all very good to have the finest artists  , musicians , beautiful cgi , but where's the soul of the game? I do not remember the name of a single FFXIII character , I should , I remember it looking gorgeous , but apart from that what can I say ...

On the other hand Cloud Tifa Sephiroth and co are permanent residents in the part of my brain that stores video game data and so are the emotions they evoked

Lets hope Hironobu Sakaguchi san includes the emotion this time...................

and may be we will be bothered enough to find out :

SQUARE ENIX games free on iOS and Android .. almost brings a FFVII tear back to one`s eyes

Free games , every ones doing it , Free games are noughties equivalent of 60`s and 70`s Free Love .... but like all those Summers of Love there are always possible unforeseen consequences ... but it`s all cool get your free Square Enix games now : They are from the Imaginary Range  marrying comics with video games ... read a new revenue returning model .. kind of like handing out the first issues of comics free and raking in profits as the recipients have to know what happens next ...

With the producer of Final Fantasy XIII and the artist behind Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles , you have to wonder if this is an enforced apology for the punishments endured and suffered by long standing Final Fantasy fans after their last "great " releases or should that be crimes against gaming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dastardly diabolical dealings threaten the Deus Ex Human Revolution

Over in the USA ... if things weren't bad enough with the economy failing , earthquakes shaking most of the Eastern seaboard , diabolical retailers are taking onlive codes out of retail boxes .

Now how cool was it to include an onlive code ... way cool , but a certain well known retailer has taken umbrage with the very generous inclusion of an onlive version of the game in all the PC retail boxes .

And prior to the EU launch of the game for some bizarre reason Square Enix notified retailers that the PC version was going to be region locked to the UK , to prevent grey sales .... to places which most likely are just going to torrent the game anyway....  This led to cancellations of thousands of pre orders , and confusion reigns on the retail sites like Amazon UK with the game constantly moving in and out of stock as already confused Deus Ex Fans ( there are around 10 different versions of the games plus or minus bonus content) try to work out what is going on

PC games are NEVER region locked .... this is a mark of respect for people who can spend 10k on a PC , who can stream the game , pirate the game or simply ignore the game in their tens of  millions..... in protest ...

Thegameveda feels for the coders of this great franchise which deserves to be remembered for its gameplay and not all the launch debacles occurring in both the USA and EU thanks to greedy publishers and retailers .... or could it be the long outstretched trendrils of  the Illuminati????? ...again..

Download Final Fantasy VII now for £7.99! It's blubbering time again....S-E-P-H-I-R-O-T-H!

The first game that made you and a generation cry ( intentionally). It is the only Final Fantasy worth playing through 60 hours of random battles , cgi and has you singing along to the Sephiroth song after the credits role..I speak of course of the PC version of Final Fantasy VII .Which I have been trying to buy all day but cannot because you lot are overloading the site , or Square Enix have messed up... Regardless get to the official download page and spend your £7.99 ,me I would have charged £7.77 but then I'm cool, I wonder if the old Sephiroth in your party mod still works...

There are some awesome Square experimental classics that I would love to see them release on PC , Internal Section , Front Mission Alternative and Einhander to name but 3 and if you know those three you know your games...

It is great to see Square Enix start to turn things round, Sleeping Dogs looks like it is going to do a Just Cause 2 later this week too.

The World Ends With You solo remix on iOS has Square Enix Reaping Core gamer loyalty and cash

Evidence that it is game over for the age of platform exclusives comes no clearer than in the form of The World Ends with You: Solo Remix for iPad - SQUARE ENIX ..at this rate it will not be long before we see ATLUS bringing Persona to iOS, Android and Windows 8.. These are premium games that command premium prices and attract core gamers to what were considered casual gaming devices ...not any longer if Square Enix's success is anything to go by... I just adore the music in this game, stick on some good quality cans when you play half the atmosphere of this game is created by the tunes those sickly sweet yet beautifully raw faux j-pop classics.. Best sound track in a Japanese game sporting actual songs since the original Jet Set Radio...Does it hurt me paying this much for an iOS game , of course not Nintendo and Sony have had us paying up to 5 times this amount for cartridges and discs that eventually die whereas our digital copies on iOS live on for ever...

Play Hitman Blood Money in your browser now FREE through CORE online: SQUARE ENIX's HD cloud gaming service

Square Enix have just launched a cloud based gaming service that runs through an Internet browser and allows you to play full games FREE ( with ads!) besting GAIKAI and onlive in one fell swoop... it is called Core Online and currently Hitman Blood Money and Mini Ninjas are available as part of a beta .. you know fans will be screaming for FREE Final Fantasy VII ... ViII ...IX...

Square Enix have not only had an excellent year delivering games through retail and the likes of Steam , they have gone one step further and started to deliver games through the cloud. Now this is more like it , for there is no reason why everything isn't being streamed right now . to browsers on Windows , iOS and Android machines .. well ok there is a walled garden or so in the way but as the last great Republican president from Hollywood said tear that Wall down Mr G... tear it down...

Once again I find myself having a slight chuckle at the alleged 384 million smackeroonies that Sony laid out for Gaikai.  Core online uses java to stream or download games , there is more downloading going on than Gaikai and in browser I got around 30 FPS playing Hitman  , hitting full screen though I got around 12 FPS .. yes this is a beta but still very impressive. During my test I got none of the server queue or lag warnings or game kick outs that Gaikai is renowned for ( and the reason they limit it to demos) or the eponymous your connection has dropped below the level required for onlive to work warnings...

So we are not going to be playing Just Cause 2 or Sleeping dogs just yet through core online full speed and full screen , though based on my test today you should be able to play in browser at 30FPS . Not bad not bad at all.

The way Core online gets round the random kick you out of a game syndrome that Gaikai and to a lesser extent onlive suffer from and manage to let you play through a full game is to break the games down into chapters . This also allows for the add revenue model to be implemented which keeps your gaming free...

Core online represents great competition for Gaikai and onlive. GAIKAI suffers from server queues , java breakdowns and is still locked on short demos, whilst onlive delivers full games they are also at full cost .

What is  also unique about Core online is this is the first example of a publisher bypassing Gaikai and onlive to deliver its own content through the cloud , to your browser and delivers full games FREE .. with ads of course .. but totally FREE ! Why waist time with Gaikai or money with onlive ? This add revenue model has been tried before with downloadable add driven episodic content games like Halcyon Sun back in the day. Will it work now where it failed before ? Well yes why not , do I mind playing full PC games for free with a few adds and near instantly on any hardware that can run java? Pas problem!

Like I have stated  many times there is no walled garden that can be placed around the cloud, anything can and will be streamed, right now Core Online and Square Enix are heralding a second phase of cloud gaming moving on from cloud specialists like Gaikai and Onlive .The next phase in the evolution of the cloud is where open source java based streaming software becomes as widely available as and replaces torrent downloads and then we will be free to stream anything anytime anywhere to any device in the meantime check out some Hitman , the video above is captured from playing the game in Core Online in a Chrome browser and full screen to show you the difference in FPS using FRAPS...

Asymmetric Multi cloud gaming:Core Online+Splashtop THD=Hitman Blood Money on Google Nexus 7 with 0 install and 0 cost

Over on your iOS or Android tablet (or Windows 8 Surface ) , you are used to playing free versions of games with the small caveat of enduring a few (or legion) adds whilst you play. So it is perfectly normal to have a big release like Angry Birds Star Wars launching with both paid for and free versions.

Someone over at Square obviously took notice of  these parallel delivery models and asked why we could not do the same for PC games? Well because they are usually around 15 gigs worth of download these days so you can hardly jump in have a quick game and leave... or can you?

With the magic of cloud based streaming through a browser you can .. and thus was born Core Online which is Square's most impressive cloud based gaming service that lets you play their games totally free , on pretty much any hardware that can run a full Internet browser. The downside.. you watch a brief video of their games to earn play time.. Core Online also looks to have more traditional log in account features that point to the possibility of purchasing games like you do with Onlive.

In use Core Online is more effective in allowing trouble free gaming than GAIKAI..and has the benefit of being launched from a browser ..without the need to login to an app over Onlive.. you do not need to have an account with them just like GAIKAI ..but unlike GAIKAI you can play a whole game this way...

But whilst playing a full game free instantly through a browser on a PC that could normally not handle the game is great, why not take the experience to your tablet too?

And thus it was that I found myself in another asymmetric multi cloud gaming test .. using Splashtop THD on the Google Nexus 7 to play Hitman Blood Money totally free , without install and this is how it turned out :

This is how we will play games in the near future , when that happens iTunes and even Steam will go the way of the bricks and mortar stores they replaced.. the technology is here now ...

Pick up Splashtop THD from Google Play right now , also there is nothing to prevent you doing the same from your iOS device (sans overlay control !):

Check out  Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad - Splashtop Inc. , in the App Store :
