Throne of Darkness vs the Seven Samurai on the Toshiba Libretto and Joojoo tablets

Today thegameveda has been testing that old Diablo meets Any Given Sunday meets Kurusawa 
san epic action strategy RPG Throne Of Blood... sorry Throne of Darkness  !On both the Toshiba Libretto and the joojoo  

The Toshiba Libretto , is quite the most amazing designer pc  , it is the finest dual screen tablet thus far created , take a look at it playing Throne of Blood , and then take a look at it playing Throne of Blood on screen whilst watching The Seven Samurai Trailer on the second.

It has of course the worst speaker created , but the sound is obscenely excellent when played through your bluetooth headphones . 

 and the joojoo  

A year into tablet gaming , thegameveda no longer cries at night because Steve still refuses to send a complementary iPad  2 . Mr Jobs is probably busy with Apple now being the biggest brand in the world ...No , as long as my many Windows 7 tablets let me do stuff like in the videos above  , I can forstall  my evil scheme of getting hold of two Macbook Airs , taking them apart ,mashing them together and making my dream dual screen tablet  ( installing Windows 8 , this evil scheme  will of course have to wait until Steve goes ARM)


Incidentally 1 year of iOS gaming has left thegameveda without the most basic of gaming skills , it`s like Apple unlearns ya ! Like I have to click as well as point...wow that's way complicated ...there's a right click you say? well I never .


Throne of Darkness , which is not to be confused (!)  with the Kurasawa film Throne of Blood , is a classic , noted for the lengthy anime style cut scenes , and a unique resemblance to Diablo with Samurai ( no really ) , it satiated Diablo fans hunger for more Diablo on it`s release and it will do so again whilst ye wait for Diablo III ..... 


Once again you should be able to see just how  in the age of iOS and Android , a full OS  tablet can come into it`s own , thegameveda has simply too many classic games to give up on and  Windows 7 tablet users are people too ! 


Angry Birds may be cool for chat show hosts , but the hip square kids prefer full PC games ,  classics like Throne of Darkness and some have even been known to dally in a little  Sid Meier`s Alpha Centauri on their tablets..more on that later .....

Lenovo X220T Tablet Test No.10 : Darkspore played with Pen and with and without touching the screen!

Darkspore was one of the first games I tried out on a tablet , way back when it was in Beta , it had excellent mouse based controls that translated very well to my then newly Windows 7 installed   multi touch Joojoo [ 1 , 2 ]and multiscreen Iconia tablets  so it was always going to be a game I needed to test out the Lenovo X220 T . Maxis made a lot of friends during that Beta , if you were a part of it you felt you were part of the development team on a very cool game . 


Right now whilst you are still aching for Diablo III to arrive , the incredibly fun and under rated Darkspore is cheaper than most iPhone AAA apps ... and it serves as a very good testing medium for how sharp the Pen on the Lenovo X220T  is , and continues to reveal the absolutely Potteresque abilities of this battery less  game controller ( ok in thegameveda`s hand the totally serious Lenovo Pen is considered first a gaming device , second  a Deathly Hallow , third a potential Light Sabre ... and lastly a text input device) . The fascinating thing about the Pen is that you can hold it almost 1 cm from the screen and still interact with the screen , in Darkspore .... and eventually Diablo 3 this means an end to all that incessant mouse clicking ...that drives me mad when playing lootemups  , you can also use finger touch if you prefer , but the pen really adds finesse to messing with the creature designer , menus and combat I can hover the pen over a bad guy and attack far quicker than scrolling a  mouse or swiping a trackpad , just watch the video , and the first time you manipulate ( and every time thegameveda manipulates ) an object using the pen WITHOUT touching the screen you feel strong with the Force ...  Plus that pen is never running out of batteries or charge like your mouse!

Get Diablo III Free from Blizzard When you sign up for 1 yr of World Of Warcraft

Not one of the once 11 million strong World of Warcraft horde? Mr T and Ozzy not do it for you? Well how about getting Diablo III free when you get an annual pass for World Of Warcraft ... tempted ... ? Well you could just get Diablo III from Game or Zavvi play for a year by which time WOW will be running a full freemium model ... as will The Old Republic if it is still around in 12 months time ... don't these people know we subscribe to our FPS games and expect to get our MMOs free in 2011 ?

Diablo III Collector's Edition (PC/Mac) pre orders limited to one per customer

Cometh Diablo III , cometh Diablo III - Collector's Edition (PC/Mac DVD) , and it is limited to one per order , whilst you can still order. This could be the first Blizzard Collector's Edition that actually is realeased in limited quantities. Diablo III if anything is more eagerly awaited than StarCraft 2 , and it will be interesting to see if Blizzard ever release this for iOS and Android platforms and if they don't  come May 15th I will be playing on Windows 8 tablets , never was there a greater test for Corning Gorilla glass than the mad screen tapping ( ne mouse clicking) that the Diablo series involves .... get that sole pre order in now :

Diablo 3 Collector's Edition frees fans from Diablo Duodecim Purgatory!

12 , XII , a numeric sequence our cool Japanese cousins like to take literally in Latin and plonk on the end of game titles as "Duodecim"  !


12 also the number of years fans of Diablo have aged waiting in purgatory for Diablo 3's arrival . Hey listen , in those 12 years anticipation ,sales and dominance of the RPG market has passed to the multi player open world and user created content PC market , away from the Japanese single player linear random battle developer controlled content model . Diablo 3 on the new iPad running Windows 8 via Splashtop at 1920 by 1200 from my X220T

Here we have my first test of Diablo III , after 24 hours of installation , download and server problems.


This is the game running at the too high for my x220T res of 1900 by 1200 , basically after 24 hours I was just happy to get a game . More optimised settings and testing will follow . I have to say that this the way to play if you can , Splashtop frees you from incessant mouse clicking , and one can sit several floors away from ones 24 fans and TEC cooled desktop that moves more air than Mr Jordan or  for that matter your precious laptop which can stay safely hidden  in you panic room whilst you play at the bottom of the garden or errh any other location you fancy...  


Playing through   Splashtop Remote Desktop for iPad - Splashtop Inc. , also allows you to zoom in on the game world . menus , conversations , decapitations and immolations....

The lag is not from Splashtop per se , it is in the actual Diablo 3 game itself , it is not at this stage optimised for Intel HD 3000 or GMA , at least not very well . Compare the speed of gamelplay of Skyrim ,Crysis 2 , Modern Warfare 3 and SWTOR in my previous posts to see that lag is not a problem with Splashtop even with intensely detailed games . 


Still I will try to tweak the res for Diablo to see if there is any change , right now we are supposed to be thankful that Blizzard have servers online so we can play , expecting optimised code is probably asking too much ....I blame the constant needs of the Warfcraft nation....

Diablo 3 fans locked in Blizzard Server Purgatory ..hopefully not for another 12 years!

After you manage to download the game making sure you do so with the new downloader ( !)  set it up , and watch your first cut scene , it dawns on you the whole world is playing this game , and you cannot log on even when you do remember your Battlenet password …

Not quite the start Blizzard were hoping for , plus the USB version of Diablo II and LOD keep asking for my CD Rom to be inserted …

Diablo III played on the new iPad at 1280 800 via splashtop 0 lag!

  

At 1280 by 800 using Splashtop to play Diablo III on the new iPad there is 0 lag , using the same X220T as per my previous test. This is the resolution the game seems to be best optimised for . And using Windows 8 , and splashtop to play on the new iPad is cool as Hell as they say ... check it out . 


The X220T is an i7 Intel HD3000 4gb model
