Welcome to the resurrection join the APB Reloaded Closed Beta if you were an APB Beta tester

Ok so Realtime Worlds are another great development house whose latest game failed to meet boardroom sales expectations  and ended with too many layoffs of talented people. If you too were miffed by the demise of David Jones latest game, you can take part very soon in the closed Beta of the now freemium APB Reloaded , assuming of course being the Realtime Worlds devotee that you are you were in the Beta for APB, see all that wonderful character designing may not gone to waste after all....


oh and Realtime Worlds Crackdown is one of the greatest video games experiences ever created , lets hope they listen to the fans and change APB for the better ....

Darkspore Beta on Steam played with touch

This week everyone gets to join in the Darkspore Beta on Steam , just remember to have your EA account details ready , which you will have set up last week in anticipation for Crysis 2 , I knew there was a reason that game came out on the pc.....


I should be trying this out on my gaming pc , but I really don't play on the old Dreadnought any more , so I am  trying it out on a joojoo first as since iPad , touch is the way to play for me  : check out the videos . These are my first playthroughs  so I am really testing how touch works with the game , and it turns out not bad at all . The game itself shows promise , any Diablo fans out there will feel right at home , as will those fond of white lab coats and cloning sheep....

If you are into micromanagement of any sort , you are going to love designing shimmering beasties and messing literally with their DNA , pairing different types , switching just at the right time in battle , Darkspore it seems is made up of the perfect mix of  game design nucleotides , just the right combination to get you addicted . 


Technically the  Darkspore engine is very impressive as you can see from me playing with a great  level of detail on a tablet pc,every part of the screen is alive ,the only static pixels being those on the menu , NB the ion gpu in the joojoo I am using is pretty impressive . Darkspore is another game that I will play using a tablet  , touch  just makes you feel more powerful!!!! And my multi monitor gaming rig ? well it edits my joojoo  YouTube videos  very fast ....


You gotta love Steam , when you get your Windows 7 or Mac tablet all your games are ready to play as my continuing exploration of  tablet gaming shows ... 


Now if I could just get the developers to include optimised  control options for multi touch ....

Battlefield PLAY4FREE BETA makes up 4 my iPad 2 disapointment

EA are on a role , with Crysis 2  last week , leading into the Darkspore Beta on Steam this week and now Battlefield PLAY4FREE is ready for Beta testers , check your emails or enlist here . Well it looks like I won't be forgetting my EA log in details anytime soon .

Battlefield is of course created and maintained by D.I.C.E , and every gamer needs to  experience racing triplanes off aircraft carriers round the islands  of their classic Codename Eagle  at least once in their gaming life...

Ghost Recon Online to free the free world free thanks to Ubisoft....

PC gaming is sooo healthy they be giving games away free...and the Ubi`s are not ones to be left behind in the free to play  FPS arena . 


Consider with Battlefield and Battlefield Heroes , the original freemium Quake III from Carmack and the boys , and of course 1000s of others on PC , not forgoing all the source and Half Life 2 engine life eaters , there is now a brick wall of opposition to the paid for DLC slave creating Modern Warfare behemoth ... well at least on the PC , you know the platform that all the hip blogs are now shifting focus to . 


And is it any coincidence that savvy code houses like Ubisoft are also focussing on the PC , after years of console led nonsense , the kind that has millions of Wii games/consoles and 3DS cartridges about to go the way of that old Atari classic E.T. ? Or the kind that sees year on year diminishing returns on consoles now as old as their users mental ages....


You cannot go wrong with a bit of Tom Clancy in your game so get behind thegameveda in the queue for Ghost Recon Online . How they translate the classic slow , plodding ,suspense , of the PC classics I do not know , but then I am not a genius Ubisoft coder now am I ? N`est ce pas?

Have you been selected to play the Assassin’s Creed Revelations Beta?

Of course you have, starting today PS3 and Uplay Assassins and Illuminati are good to go in the Assassin’s Creed Revelations multiplayer Beta .  Keys were mailed to the chosen many by Ubisoft earlier this week but since thegameveda has been too busy playing or queuing for GAIKAI demos, having an early download Key has garnered no benefits for this Assassin. Instead for the 2nd time this week I find my self queuing for downloads the world is going crazy 4 this Beta and I think I have around 200 minutes to wait before the download completes. Who knows maybe I will open up a new browser window and join a queue for a GAIKAI demo whilst I wait for Revelations.

Enter your Steam Battlefield 3 keys into Origin to begin downloading your Beta now

2011 is the year digital game distribution  branches out from from Steam to streaming with onlive ,Gaikai and now with the Battlefield 3 Beta to Origin . I have no idea if Valve will ever make up with EA , but who cares is the likely happy battlecry as D.I.C.E. aficionados around the world enter their Steam Battlefield 3 beta keys into Origin . You will find your Beta key in the properties box of Medal Of Honor , I had to download Medal Of Honor to bring up the key , then just cut and paste into the redeem code box of Origin ....


right my download has completed time to see if I can play.....

Battlefield 3 Beta stats : were you one of the 9,540,432 people who joined in?

thegameveda was number 3,234,232 on the PC and 5,023,172 on the PS3 .... well who`s arguing? Battlefield 3 is going to be the game of the year ,on PC heralding  EA`s Origin , and for once benefiting from  being developed across formats ,  with a system spec that will not cause you to rush out and have to upgrade your hardware in these dire economic times ( Adieu Europe it was nice knowing you ..)


Check your email and the bean counters at D.I.C.E will have left you a message .. but this is not a statistics blog so why not watch a trailer whilst you make up your mind whether to preorder it from Game or Zavvi....
