The Notion Ink Adam Dead and Buried Before Arrival..

After a year of following Notion Ink this is my blog posted to in response to  Rohan Shravan revealing his Emperors New Clothes :ie no tangible hardware or software.....Tablet fans stay away from this one until at least January and CES 2011 ...


Here is what i posted on the Notion Ink Blog ,just in case they had difficulties 
"The Adam will i fear in the words of Steve be dead on arrival. This preorder debacle is clearly reminiscent and worse than that of the Fusion Garage Joojoo . This will feed the tech crunch and endless rant gadget blogs for months . Notion ink have missed and messed their launch window and I predict this will go the way of the joojoo  , in fact the launch is much much worse than the joojoo with Rohans  preorder launch teaser campaign with websites going down,payment methods denied , a preorder that takes money 8to9 weeks before delivery , by the time Adam launches , a myriad of competitors with better tech , dual core CPUs , higher res cams ,ssds and over 20 with full windows os next year alone based on intel CPUs , are slated to arrive. Not least the iPad 2 , joojoo 2 , android 3 tablets ,etc  Oh by the way I love my joojoo running windows 7 ultimate , and it taught me  ,great engineering design and software is not enough to take on  Apple, it also showed me how infinitely more useful a full operating system is on a tablet .  Adam will be it looks a short lived niche product , this launch was targeted at the family , not the masses , a preorder should not sell out , and even Fusion Garage managed to show  working product before asking people to put down money. I won't go near the refund and possible customer support issues If Rohan wants to prove me wrong I would like to you to get the preorder i  have been waiting over a year for the pixelqi back up soon , i got neither an email or an op to preorder the pixelqi version or send me a working Adam for review ,  the USA blogs will eat Notion Ink for breakfast over the next 8 weeks , the only safe launch window for this product was before Christmas , and as has been stated in thousands of posts there is still no video of finished hardware or software. This is a cut-throat business , and with this non starter of a 24 hour teaser  for a broken preorder upfront payment that cannot use master card pay pal or google checkout ,with a refund policy and pricing that has even native Indians feeling worried , and another young Indian CEO on a plane stateside whilst his company flounders , cf Fusion Garage I take back my earlier comments that you guys have the stuff to give the likes of Mr Jobs and Gates sleepless nights . Your tech will be outdated by the time it hits in ces , the software and ui does not exist , if it does demo it ,not Photoshop it . By the time you release there will be no Market for your tablet and the fans will have moved on to the next great thing , tegra 3 etc full os tablets. I have used and reviewed every tablet going from iPad joojoo libretto to galaxy tab , I can clearly say the most useful is a full windows os joojoo running with 4 gb ram and 64 gb ssd. The most fun is the iPad and I hate apple , that is how good Steve is , the dual screen full os  libretto is the future , and if you want to see the future go check out the Acer Iconia .after a year of tablet use I will warn people off gimped phone os tablets and recommend you go for full os tablet pcs , more initial upfront cost but then you never need worry about apps android iOS or closed Eco systems that these so called wonders of tech really are . Adam is D.O.A , or it would be if it had arrived .  Come January everyone whether fans of ipad2 ,android 3 or full os tablets ,even dual screen fans will have viable alternatives ,why then am I going to put up with a teaser  campaign for a product no one can see or touch , the only revolutionary model of which appears to be sold out ..on preorder? There is no stock of the item to sell out in the first place ,what mathematical and engineering metaphors come to mind re that Rohan? There has been altogether too much talk and too little delivery if you guys get your Adams on time I will eat one of my joojoos . Come January the web will buzzing with iPad 2 news ,it already is ,whatever goodwill you built up over the last year seems to have been lost over this almost childish school project like teaser campaign . The exopc and wetab guys also tried this type of preorder , they will not be around this time next year let alone ces. I cannot express the level of disappointment I have after following you Rohan and Adam over this year. This is way worse than the fusion garage joojoo launch , they had tangible review products ,they had supply ,no teaser campaign,preorders that worked globally, and do you remember what  the blogosphere did to their revolutionary product? After all that lecturing from on high ,re lofty goals with flowery and sometimes obtuse engineering metaphors , you seem to have forgone the basics of bringing a product to Market ahead of time and to the widest audience possible not restricting that audience .however good your tech is , by the time you finish designing it ,it is surpassed . There is a tsunami of tablet launching this ces from established players. You must realise Rohan that the fanatical family of a few thousand blog posters will not sustain your company , delivering product will .  If you are serious about taking on the competition you need to get your head out of the clouds literally, as it appears you are on a plane!  and plant your feet firmly on the ground  This launch was not a success it was a disaster , someone has to get this across to you , and hopefully you will fix it with tangible product software and a preorder system that takes money on shipment not 10 weeks before a random date. And to not have your flagship model available for preorder ? What is the point? The only stand out featured model is sold out ? What happens if apple samsung toshiba add a pixelqi option to their next tablet? Your window of opportunity is gone. I need to take apart your preorder debacle on my own blog for self catharsis when I have had time to sleep ... I spent altogether too much time following and trying to preorder. Goodnight Rohan ,please prove me wrong ! Without flowery engineering metaphors! "

Notion Ink Adam Death of A Tablet part 2 : Impending Failure at launch?

Reading the entrails of my spare Joojoo I  continue to foresee the death on arrival of the Notion Ink Adam Tablet . Apart from satiating the Android nations hunger for a rival to the ONE  it will not have any significant impact on the tablet scene.

So there are videos , but there is no stock to pre order .There is no date for eta or delivery  As a company Notion Ink need to release stock not videos , any number of millions of UI layer videos exist  on Youtube at any given time , and many with cute kittens operating rival tablets and Rohan as cute as you are you cannot compare to mittens the kitten now can you ?

compete  with the feline interaction zenith the iPad has reached as illustrated by mittens below  ?

the lack of feline oriented functions in the  UI layer is just one more reason to worry for Adams future ,perhaps Rohan could start another year long blog offshoot where 1000s of the Notion Ink Flock bleat away .....

The insanity of the last paragraph is really just a non engineering design student metaphor for the complete nonstarter that the Adam launch has become.  In the end all that matters is stock reaching customers and their cats , and Adam has failed felines and their pet humans , claiming sold out pre orders is frankly just another part of the year long teaser campaign.

For almost a year Notion Ink have been leading loyal blog fans around by the nose detailing every detail , talking the talk , promising promises , and have delivered to date on none of them . Now videoing every function , at least superficially.

1. there is no stock - for an item that many were led to believe would be here before Christmas - Rohan should be chasing this not making teaser videos , oh look at the scrolling tabs .....

2. what are good people doing wasting time and money  on what looks like an 8g flash tablet that has no marketplace app store , a screen resolution that is not supported by the majority of open GL games ,  hardware that will be dated :

3. when it launches  , if it launches  outside a few 1000 niche purhases , it will fail : it will be competing with Motorola Google Tablets , Windows 7 tablets , the Asus tablet , the HP , Dell whatever tablets and lo of course Steves Apple iPAd part deux , not to mention the Samsung 10 inch ramp up of the Galaxy Tab and the dual core Blackberry tablet!

Are millions of people really going to switch to Notion Ink from established players , and if the likes of Samsung find it tough against Apple , and they have stock released everywhere , what possible chance has Notion Ink got with Adam with its present launch fiasco.

Many people talk of Notion Ink needing a PR company , a PR company to do what ? sell hot air?  they need to ramp up production , sort the pre-orders out for their only standout product the fabled PixelQi version ,stop with the teaser videos .  Blackberry also had teaser videos earlier this year for their tablet , thing is there was no tablet , it will hit next year , all of this makes business nonsense . 

The only thing that can take on iPad will be iPad 2 , millions of which are being manufactured right now in time for next February . What makes Steve a genius is preparation , and he seems to be able to have more time to devote to work as he is not constantly on a one to one blog posting teaser videos about a phantom product like the CEO of Notion Ink has done or the CEO of Blackberry did earlier this year

But come February you can bet Steve Jobs will be weaving his magic sales spiel about the only tablet that will dominate this form factor sales for 2011 , the iPad 2.    

so the question is do I wear black or white to the Notion Ink Adam launch/funeral , who knows may be I'll take a Notion Ink style survey on that ... 

Of course I may be completely wrong , but I have watched Fusion Garage fail , and they had a tangible product , [but useless software ] .


I have been using a 1024 by 600  dual screen tablet for months and I can tell you the nominal res is the iPads 1024 by 768 . Plus all those hoping to flash this with an other OS will be operating at a suboptimal res for most modern day OS applications and indeed games .  I can play almost anything on my Windows 7 Joojoo with its 720 p 1366 768 res and web pages etc look gorgeous at that res. So many games and applications will not run at 1024 by 600 that this fact makes the Adam a non starter for those hoping to try Windows and other OS on it .


And then we come to the real power users , you /we need dual screen tablet notebooks with full cpus and gpus as well as operating systems .


Why so serious ? Have you read the Notion Ink Blog , it comes across to cynics like sanctimonious self supporting babble . We love you love ... ahh ... someone ask the family where the product is , when it will release why it seems to have lost its most important features , how it will survive against the coming biblical plague of Tablets and  with Pharoh releasing his iPad 2 ... 


The thing is Rohan the audience for tablets has grown up a lot since CES 2010 , and the iPad launch , even the iPad 2 will not satisfy the tech lust of an audience that demands the best tech for its money . 


If my next fun tablet is an iPad 2 then 


Mine other tablet is a  full OS large screen hi res dual screen i5 i7 tablet


The hidden cost with all these non desktop OS  tablets , is the app purchasing , the apps are always sub desktop or laptop OS in functionality but as I said we are a year older when it comes to tablet use and not as easily wowed by tablet tech . 


Consider the Acer Iconia an i5 powered dual screen tablet that runs a full Windows 7 OS , infinitely more useful than the Notion Ink Adam , next year this is what many existing tablet owners frustrated with hardware limitations and having no need to learn the intricacies of another tablet will be chasing full OS dual screen tablets with more power than today's laptops and many desktops :

Notion Ink Adam : Death of a Tablet part 3: this is not the Droid you have been looking for ...move along

I have awarded Thegameveda 2010 coveted plastic Dodo award to the Notion Ink  and its Adam. 

CES 2011 is online/over  , and an army of around 100 Tablets is about to derezz the Notion Ink Adam even before the first one lands in the hands of its few purchasers... who has I predicted in a previous treatise entitled  Notion Ink Adam Death of a Tablet part 2  and prior to that in a discourse entitled The Notion Ink Adam Dead and Buried before Arrival  , are not going to receive their Adams on time .... it is not even funny any more...


Notion Inkers , the family , the few ..the happy few , have been spoon fed videos of leaves , hdmi out displays, and wonder of wonder videos of screen rotation!  to the un-enchanted the over complex and overstretched software layer  has managed to make the hardware look like its dressed for oblivion wearing a giant Albatross around its neck ... Enough I cannee take no more Captain...too many ornithological riffs .

As I write there are still no preorders available , and there still has been no live demo of the fabled pixelqi screen. There is an official on site video but this does not manage to actually show actual use of the tablet , they went for a Wetab simulated concept demo . Isn't that nice ? . But all of that is irrelevant , for alas poor Adam ,is dead , we did not know him well , a tablet of infinite jest it seems... not...

As I write  the new tablet army is ending the year long tease that the Notion Ink Adam launch has become ,satiating the hunger and expectations of millions of tablet fans.  Frankly outside of a few 1000 punters who through the power of the Notion Ink Blog Grooming scheme have talked and talked and talked themselves into buying the thing ,  believing falsely that the Adam would arrive in 2010 , be available to preorder , and be revolutionary compared to its competition , able to run Honeycomb with the rest of the big boys , well you know none of that has happened.


A favourable review  sorry preview  , sorry hands on in some dark corner of CES , by usually Apple centric blogs,one  by the same journalist who was so wowed by it 1 year ago.... represent a few patronising pats on the back for young Rohan from the big blogs perhaps , to make up for the universal vitriol poured on Fusion Garage on their sites.... and the realisation that the day will come when one of these Asian genii will dethrone Jobs and Master Gates ,  it won't be Notion Ink or Fusion Garage though!


lets see what Rohans up against : or why the Adam died....


Design choice faults were obvious in the Adam from Creation or inception as folks like to say these days  ......where to begin , too much talking and too little action , most importantly settling on a suboptimal res of 1024 by 600 when the Tegra 2 tablets are all running beyond this and the ref for tablets to use Honeycomb is 1280*720 .Wasting time designing a leaf based UI , remember the leaf based Linux UI of the Joojoo? and vapour launching the tablet before Honeycomb 3  . The tech is dated , rushed , software clunky , complex and futitle when you think every tablet and your toaster will be running Honeycomb 

The Adam like the doomed Tegra 2 based Folio will fail because of its impatience to release before the only UI layer designed for tablets ,Honeycomb,that can take on iOS is released. Oh you few 1000 users may be able to hack some version of Honeycomb , but it wont be the bells and whistles , tablet OS that every other cheaper faster , larger and more widely available Tegra 2 tablet will be running .

1.We have the 4 Musketeers from Asus who have not one but 4 tablets out , including they claim the most powerful tablet ever :


2.Having defeated the Asus Musketeers the Notion Ink Adam will have to take on  The Motorola Xoom  which is the greatest thing to come out of CES , for many , and has been awarded that title officially.

3. Then the more   powerful full OS Windows 7  tablets from Motion Computing   , futuristic dual screen  tablets in the form of the Acer Iconia .. as well as too many to mention competitors  including an i5 powered Windows 7 tablet the Eee Slate EP121, which has a 12.1-inch  screen up to 4GB of memory and  Bluetooth 3.0 , and then how about some  Honeycomb running variants from 7 to 10 inches . The Eee Slate works with a Wacom Digitizer pen and also comes with a bluetooth keyboard . And then there are all the others with Toshiba , LG , Motorola, and Blackberry to name but a few that all showed their wares .

4. And of course in the last weeks of January the tech world is readying itself for the annual vegan (I am sure) Cupertino luau where Steve Jobs  will roast the competition in an underground banana leaf oven with the announcement of iPad 2 


Then if by some miracle Notion Ink get the Adam past that lot , we have around 74+ other tablets too numerous to go into here , but you get the picture , Adam is over.


5. the Adam isn't fighting against hundreds , it is fighting against millions:Say the Adam  hardware Cyrano like manages to win its moonlit  duel with 100 odd tablets , what about the Software ? Well major players like Google , Blackberry , Apple and even Microsoft with Windows 7 tablets have millions of developers collectively working for them.  The Adam cannot scale this software wall , unless of course it was designed to leverage Android or Windows , but after   CES we know that their is no official Android app store for it , Honeycombs native res for tablets is too much for the Adam , and there is no way you will be installing Windows 7 without ripping it open adding RAM and an ssd ,much simpler ,cheaper and wiser to go for an i5 powered   Asus Ep121 for instance.... Although you won't be convincing many Notion Ink sheep who would probably be happy with an empty box with Adam written on it , the way they worship the thing. But consider they have wasted a year of their lives blogging for some tech that was outdated the day it was announced , and is outperformed in price and power by much more viable alternatives from name manufacturers and I do not mean Apple alone people!


So Notion Inks Adam is a dead , a deceased parrot of a semi-vapour tablet , even its official video does not show the tablet ! yeah you noticed that too did you?


Lessons in how to not design a tablet or any other product for that matter:


1. And most importantly ,too much design bs - there is a years worth of how not to design a tablet blog nonsense for students of how not to design tablets on the official blog. Not entirely different from the mistakes Fusion Garage made although they did not tease their prospective customers so much...


2.Every tablet turning heads at CES eg the Xoom is reliant on the might of the big players creating the OS . Fusion Garage had hardware that could have run Windows but went nuts over a cloud tablet , possibly 10 years before we get used to cloud computing , how do I know it could run Windows 7 ? because I am typing this on it . Notion Ink similarly , for all their talk designed themselves out of a market , that will be controlled by simple hardware design , giving the customers what they want does not mean ignoring what is best for them . Honeycomb is ready to shine on the 100 odd new Tegra 2 tablets , all of whom are going to be more easily available ,cheaper , and useful than the Adam with Eden , its leaves and its suboptimal res. Windows 7 tablets will cater for the power hungry or anyone who wants to be free from App slavery. There is no place for Adam in this very busy  arena.


3. Again , the screen resolution is totally wrong , you have powerful hardware , but Notion Ink pair it with a screen that does not even run at the minimum resolution that is required by Honeycomb to function on tablets. And of course every other Tegra 2 tablet is running at that optimal res. 

With the tablet competition hotting up , even Steve Jobs will have to work some wicked voodoo with iPad 2.0 , Rohan and Notion Ink do not stand a chance , another Adam chased out of Eden by the bite of an Apple .....

4. Adam is ugly the bezzels are astonishingly large , giving it a certain early Shenzen  Apad chic ... I do not want a bezel I can replace , I do not want a bezel at all 


So people do not waste your hard earned cash , no one who preordered will get theirs on time , or before the tsunami of above tablets arrives , its the wrong res for Honeycomb , Eden is  another useless over complex UI that will not compete with Honeycomb ,  or full OS tablets ,  there are around 100 alternatives weeks away , all with better hardware and pricing , in reality this year long tease has been a tablet version of the Emperors New Clothes .
  
Is there a single promise that has been kept by this company and are you going to  walk around with obsolete tech and software when the latest whizzbang tablets are raining down all around you?


Notion Ink Adam? ...more like Notion Sink Adam.....too much conversation and too little action as the King used to sing...and ... thank you very much ..huh..huh...right I am off for my refried banana snack is ready ...

I just hope it does not go through a resurrection , as I am running out of bird similes......

Notion Ink Adam Death of a tablet part 5 :OTA update bricks all Adam slates with Warm Regards from Notion Ink

As long predicted Notion Ink lost this Slate War has , for some sidious Notion Ink minion issued an OTA update , the  Adam  equivalent of a Sith Lords order 66, and obedient Adam tablets throughout the galaxy promptly bricked themselves. It was if a dozen Tablets and their owners were suddenly silenced .....

You cannot make this stuff up , around the web it has been reported that the Notion Ink Adam basically kills itself after updating . Well they did promise you a mystery feature !  Apparently there is a geek friendly work around,but the ability to update is now shazbot . Should you buy one after this latest fiasco ,Hell no you shouldn't have bought one before this fiasco, well what can I say it is hard to figure when I burst out in laughter on reading the  latest stories re the Adam committing ritual digital download suicide  The Adam is dead, no really ,avoid it all costs. And this will not be the last fiasco from Notion Ink  , my Notion Ink Adam Death of a Tablet series seems likely to run and run ...


Really people a tablet is like any other piece of PC hardware , give us the components and we can all build  better hardware than the utter tripe the Adam has become. Give us the option and we will install the cpu gpu os software and screen of our choice like we do with desktops . For technophobes there are around 1000 sounder alternatives than the Notion Ink Adam . 


Well people laughed when Steve Jobs(get well soon) said of upcoming tablets that many would be dead on arrival .Today I find myself laughing with him as  Notion Ink has literally produced a tablet the Adam that is for many of it's few owners dead on arrival.


But wait has striking down the Adam tablet made it even more powerful?


A New Hope: although Notion Ink cannot get their own OS Eden or own tablet running , it seems every other tablet under the sun is about to get its own version of Eden , xdadevelopers have it running on a Viewsonic tablet: 

What next? is there any hope for Notion Ink or Adam , find out in Death of A Tablet part 6 , coming to this blog soon , I kid you not , I have a bad feeling about this tablet! I wonder how many episodes there will be before this saga is concluded?

Notion Ink Adam Death of A Tablet part 4 : it ships with its own coffin?

Facing 1000s of rival  tablet pcs with superior tech   Notion Ink have decided to reveal their secret weapon . How are they going to take on the army of Honeycombe , Windows 7, iPad 2 , Blackberry et al tablets?Answer with the standout feature : No literally with a stand , out of CARDBOARD , folding from the black card board case which frankly looks like the coffin you should bury this folly in. 

So as expected Notion Inkers have delays on their deliveries  , Notion Ink desperate to massage the sheep egos of its loyal fans , have released some groovy pics of what I hope is not the fabled mystery feature : a card board box stand !

now any one who has used any tablet will know the back will run hot , the tablet will carry considerable weight , and frankly your wunderkind not Honeycombe , much delayed an over hyped Adam , if you can get one is going to look , how do I put it kindly , totally .... c..like this :

So is it safe ? is it safe? as the dentist asked the jogger? I bet you are glad you sank $600 into that now ? 

Seriously avoid the Notion Ink Adam at all costs , the Notion Ink sheep are even baa baaing about an Adam 2 this year ... So even more incentive to chose from the army of tablets that are around now and coming round the mountain to steam roller the folly that the Adam has become into oblivion .

Although if you are into papercraft ...or cardboard , find shoe boxes inspirational , go for it . No not really the Adam is dead tech , avoid at all costs !

It is great to see independent talent developing tech , but it remains to be seen if startups like Notion Ink can do that which makes USA , Nihon, Korean , Taiwanese giants dominant in the tech industry  , that is learn to take criticism as feedback and act on it . And in today's Internet  powered world , where people can see through bs , and discuss it in seconds in their own forums this is absolutely essential and this is where Notion Ink and Fusion Garage before them failed . 

No other tablet manufacturer has on the surface been so in touch with its audience than Notion Ink , but they still managed to produce a tablet with the wrong OS , wrong screen resolution , wrong payment model , you can without a penny leaving your bank preorder with any credit card the  soon to be released  asus eee slate ep121 , but people have paid upfront through great difficulty for the Adam which has still to be released!  How could they get it so wrong , maybe the arrogance of youth , but critically not listening to the needs of their users , you can get away with that if your product is unique like the iPad was with a market to itself , but 1 year on with literally 1000s of choices for tablet fans , not listening and providing for the needs of your users will by the final nail in Adams cardboard coffin, and I do in no way consider the warm regards almost condescending spoon feeding of the Notion Ink Blog community in any way listening or responding to feedback . 


Throughout the year long folly that is the Notion Ink Blog , for it is the blog that is more substantial than tablet , Rohan/Notion Ink  have released info when THEY wanted , released tech details when THEY wanted , released the tablet when THEY wanted , responded to comments when THEY wanted,introduced preorders when THEY wanted ,with the payment method THEY wanted  ,and are even delivering the Adam when THEY want  , so where in that year long blog drama has Notion INK ever given the consumer they wanted?  Much negative feedback has been censored or removed , and this is where they went wrong , instead of deleting it or moderating it they should have listened . 

If Notion Ink fans are honest they have been led round by the nose , and frankly when you stand up your Adam , if it works as no one has actually used one outside of controlled conditions , you are going to feel slightly used as you read the instructions to assemble your paper craft stand....So The Notion Ink Adam will be  the first casualty of 2011 in the slate war . 

What interests me most is if Notion Ink do the other great thing that all the major tech companies , even the mighty Apple ,  have had to do , get up from failure , learn from it and turn it into future success? Based on my experience of studying them over the last year I doubt it very much.

Notion Ink Adam Death of A Tablet part 6: Gong Hei Fard Choi from Rohan Shravan and the Tablet of Doom?

Warm regards Notion Ink observers.. and it's not a very happy Chinese New Year from your heroes at Notion Stink ..

First a recap , Notion Ink announced a tablet to end all tablets last year at CES (and it looks like it will end them) , anyway, they in fact launched a blog , for nigh on a year created hysteria amongst their native population ,  Android faithful and those around the world  wishing for an alternative to Apple. They did not deliver the tablet as promised ,it has the wrong res , only 8gb storage , there are no functioning review units,cannot run or update its own OS[see later bricked reference], cannot run Honeycomb and has no Android store . But Notion Ink used their blog to launch a teaser campaign  took pre orders , limited pre orders , with money up front ,with a payment method that excluded the majority of its' devotees, vapour launched the tablet months before competition from real Honeycomb 3 tablets, and , when it did reach the hands of a few dozen ,in fact may be a dozen owners , Notion Ink's own tablet update bricked the slates , of course none of this matters to a Notion Ink fan , who has invested money and around a year of time being led around by the nose by what is clearly at best the unluckiest start up or at worst a bunch of incompetent and inexperienced kids with too much time,attention and other  peoples money.  

What Notion Ink has managed to do-didley  right ....

Well over on the Notion Ink Blog there is now a years worth of records of HOW NOT TO LAUNCH A TABLET  , you should peruse before they hit DEL , and erase themselves by accident , in fact speaking of accidents :

here is the latest Notion Ink BS fresh from the horses own a..mouth/blog :

"All of you who pre-ordered and helped Notion Ink start building the community must have received an email today. One email is on the confirmation of shipping and the other one is on the delay. Those who are in the later group (5.31%) are angry as I could see their comments and the emails.

It is extremely unfortunate that we are in such a situation. We could not have expected the accidental damage of the touch screen shipment, and that too just days before Chinese New Year eve. Even though the damage was to a part of shipment, we cancelled all because in such a case you cannot predict the defective and working screens manually. Our friends at Sintek requested their employees to miss their New Year week and instead manufacture the lost numbers. Most of them agreed."

As I noted in Notion Ink Adam Death of A Tablet part 5 , you cannot make this stuff up 

Making people work through their holidays , how kind and generous , was the request order  made using the usual condescending "Warm regards , Chinese workforce  , you holidays are now cancelled , your one major holiday of the year, no forgeddaboutit , the Notion Ink family and the Fredo of Tablet design have made you an order you cannot refuse..."

Why not do the sensible thing , let them have their holidays , every Chinese manufacturer is managing this , more importantly all the Western companies that rely on them work around Chinese New Year , how can Notion Stink miss the fact that they promised to deliver a product made in China on and around Chinese New Year. Oh of course maybe because the calendar app on Rohan's Adam failed .  

To find out why you have to go back to the ludicrous teaser pre order fiasco  in November , promising delivery around New Year and February , so Notion Ink managed to fall foul of Christmas , Western New Year , and Chinese New Year , a tripple whammy of totally avoidable delays , this is why major companies worth 100s of billions launch and work AFTER this period . 

This is also why Notion Stink can not get their second pre order batch going . Very  basic stuff , why ask yourselves should you have any faith in Notion Ink ? If it is so difficult for them to get you your paid for Adam, what are you going to do if you have a fault with your Adam ?

There's got to be a Beta way.....

Yes it is great to be involved in developing tech with your favourite company , but this is not Google sending you a free Chrome OS netbook , to have fun with at their cost . They are paying people $1000s for spotting bugs , go check them out . Meanwhile Notion Stink is using your money and time to hype and create hysteria for an underpowered , underachieving clearly Beta product , nay Alpha product , whilst trying to take a byte out of the Apple and Blackberry pie Notion Stink have forgotten the golden rule , you gotta give it time to cool or you get burned . 

There are real alternatives  there is still time wake up and smell the Notion Stink!

For my  Notion Ink Hacks readers , these and many ,many,other jesting comments are made re Notion Ink from hard earned experience of using tablets of every kind for the last year , including  iPad , Joojoo , Toshiba Libretto . I can spot a bad one from a year off , the Toshiba Folio for instance . I have a  joojoo for hacking , running every OS conceivable from Chrome OS , Android , Ubuntu to full Windows  , the Libretto is from the future and is way too cool for most people to get round their heads, and the iPad whether you like it or not is what made the tablet market viable . All have plus points and cons , surf around my blog thegameveda and you will see me ranting at various times against Jobs and Fusion Garage with more fervor than I have done in my Notion Ink Death of a Tablet series. But the thing is all those tablets have paid for themselves in terms of fun and function . With the Adam this is not going to happen.  You see the Joojoo has a terrible leaf based OS , great in concept but ahead of its time in reliance on the cloud , but it has superb hardware , even the next gen slates do not have its' 12.1 screen , and more important , I  swapped the ssd for a sandforce , I have it running 4gb of RAM ,  and if you check my blog you will see how amazing the joojoo and Libretto are paired with onlive and Steam , full AAA top of the range PC games that require gaming pc specs running instantly(onlive) in your hands on a 12.1 inch tablet. Using Windows 7 may be an anathema to many of you considering tablets , but use of the cloud ,and the ability to install and run anything you like is unmatched. 

I had great hopes for the Notion Ink Adam , but 20 odd years of messing around with and building ,upgrading and struggling with pc tech and software has made me a little wiser , take your hard earned money and spend it elsewhere , for Android fans Honeycomb 3 is the reference , the reference hardware specs are way too much for poor Adam , and you know Notion Stink will start hyping Adam 2 , oh wait , they already did that ?

In Notion Ink Adam  Death of Tablet Part 7: the Sheep Rebellion : I will ponder the growing back lash against  Notion Stink by the "family" ,"community " and other such fluffy condescending and patronising terms used by the complete disaster area of a company that is Notion Ink .  

So until then it's a Warm Regards from me and for those angry fans as Rohan terms them a  very very cold Chinese New Year regards from the Notion Stinkers with their latest Adam fiasco!
