After a year of following Notion Ink this is my blog posted to in response to Rohan Shravan revealing his Emperors New Clothes :ie no tangible hardware or software.....Tablet fans stay away from this one until at least January and CES 2011 ...
Here is what i posted on the Notion Ink Blog ,just in case they had difficulties
"The Adam will i fear in the words of Steve be dead on arrival. This preorder debacle is clearly reminiscent and worse than that of the Fusion Garage Joojoo . This will feed the tech crunch and endless rant gadget blogs for months . Notion ink have missed and messed their launch window and I predict this will go the way of the joojoo , in fact the launch is much much worse than the joojoo with Rohans preorder launch teaser campaign with websites going down,payment methods denied , a preorder that takes money 8to9 weeks before delivery , by the time Adam launches , a myriad of competitors with better tech , dual core CPUs , higher res cams ,ssds and over 20 with full windows os next year alone based on intel CPUs , are slated to arrive. Not least the iPad 2 , joojoo 2 , android 3 tablets ,etc Oh by the way I love my joojoo running windows 7 ultimate , and it taught me ,great engineering design and software is not enough to take on Apple, it also showed me how infinitely more useful a full operating system is on a tablet . Adam will be it looks a short lived niche product , this launch was targeted at the family , not the masses , a preorder should not sell out , and even Fusion Garage managed to show working product before asking people to put down money. I won't go near the refund and possible customer support issues If Rohan wants to prove me wrong I would like to you to get the preorder i have been waiting over a year for the pixelqi back up soon , i got neither an email or an op to preorder the pixelqi version or send me a working Adam for review , the USA blogs will eat Notion Ink for breakfast over the next 8 weeks , the only safe launch window for this product was before Christmas , and as has been stated in thousands of posts there is still no video of finished hardware or software. This is a cut-throat business , and with this non starter of a 24 hour teaser for a broken preorder upfront payment that cannot use master card pay pal or google checkout ,with a refund policy and pricing that has even native Indians feeling worried , and another young Indian CEO on a plane stateside whilst his company flounders , cf Fusion Garage I take back my earlier comments that you guys have the stuff to give the likes of Mr Jobs and Gates sleepless nights . Your tech will be outdated by the time it hits in ces , the software and ui does not exist , if it does demo it ,not Photoshop it . By the time you release there will be no Market for your tablet and the fans will have moved on to the next great thing , tegra 3 etc full os tablets. I have used and reviewed every tablet going from iPad joojoo libretto to galaxy tab , I can clearly say the most useful is a full windows os joojoo running with 4 gb ram and 64 gb ssd. The most fun is the iPad and I hate apple , that is how good Steve is , the dual screen full os libretto is the future , and if you want to see the future go check out the Acer Iconia .after a year of tablet use I will warn people off gimped phone os tablets and recommend you go for full os tablet pcs , more initial upfront cost but then you never need worry about apps android iOS or closed Eco systems that these so called wonders of tech really are . Adam is D.O.A , or it would be if it had arrived . Come January everyone whether fans of ipad2 ,android 3 or full os tablets ,even dual screen fans will have viable alternatives ,why then am I going to put up with a teaser campaign for a product no one can see or touch , the only revolutionary model of which appears to be sold out ..on preorder? There is no stock of the item to sell out in the first place ,what mathematical and engineering metaphors come to mind re that Rohan? There has been altogether too much talk and too little delivery if you guys get your Adams on time I will eat one of my joojoos . Come January the web will buzzing with iPad 2 news ,it already is ,whatever goodwill you built up over the last year seems to have been lost over this almost childish school project like teaser campaign . The exopc and wetab guys also tried this type of preorder , they will not be around this time next year let alone ces. I cannot express the level of disappointment I have after following you Rohan and Adam over this year. This is way worse than the fusion garage joojoo launch , they had tangible review products ,they had supply ,no teaser campaign,preorders that worked globally, and do you remember what the blogosphere did to their revolutionary product? After all that lecturing from on high ,re lofty goals with flowery and sometimes obtuse engineering metaphors , you seem to have forgone the basics of bringing a product to Market ahead of time and to the widest audience possible not restricting that audience .however good your tech is , by the time you finish designing it ,it is surpassed . There is a tsunami of tablet launching this ces from established players. You must realise Rohan that the fanatical family of a few thousand blog posters will not sustain your company , delivering product will . If you are serious about taking on the competition you need to get your head out of the clouds literally, as it appears you are on a plane! and plant your feet firmly on the ground This launch was not a success it was a disaster , someone has to get this across to you , and hopefully you will fix it with tangible product software and a preorder system that takes money on shipment not 10 weeks before a random date. And to not have your flagship model available for preorder ? What is the point? The only stand out featured model is sold out ? What happens if apple samsung toshiba add a pixelqi option to their next tablet? Your window of opportunity is gone. I need to take apart your preorder debacle on my own blog for self catharsis when I have had time to sleep ... I spent altogether too much time following and trying to preorder. Goodnight Rohan ,please prove me wrong ! Without flowery engineering metaphors! "
