Fans breath fire as The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim crashes more PCs than a Flash developer convention

Colour me spoiled but the thing about the $400 million dollar Boby Kotick vehicle  Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 , is that it flies not only runs out of the box on my tiny 12.5 inch Intel HD3000 powered Lenovo X220T at 1366 by 768 , but storms on my gaming pc at 5120 by 1600 , with gun sites even adjusting for the bezel on my monitors. Wheras my favourite game this year Battlefield 3 , is clearly a work in progress on PC , you cry and pray every time you launch that web browser , and sometimes get some gameplay , but nowhere near the silky smooth experience that you get with MW3. I am not talking about the frames per second on screen action here , I am talking about the fact that launching MW3 is akin to queuing up for a movie at a theatre getting your popcorn in , effortlessly finding your seat and enjoying the next 2 to 3 hours with everyone who came with you . And they wonder why it tops charts every year? Now I love Battlefield , but over a decade into playing Battlefield games and even longer playing D.I.C.E. games  , I know to expect Battlefield games never launch without glitches , 3 to 6 months from now the Battlefield 3 experience on PC will be as smooth as it is on the consoles . That is 3 to 6 months for them to catch up with drivers and patches and server mods. Those 3 to 6 months I will get my Battlefield 3 kicks on console.

And now we come to another botched game release : The latest Elder Scrolls RPG , thegameveda has had Skyrim for most of a day , it plays rather nicely on my Lenovo X220T , even on low settings it looks pretty awesome , wait ...why are they speaking so quietly ? Whatever engine is powering the sound , or not powering the sound on my laptop is also responsible for totally killing the game on my gaming desktop pc . Skyrim at random points crashes and locks your PC , so you have to hard reset it . The crash always starts with the sound for the game going crazy and locking in an infinite loop of white noise and beeps.

Graphics wise , the game does not even register resolutions above 2560 by 1600 , yes I am serious !And the Ultra settings for textures do not make them look any more detailed or sharper at 2560 by 1600 than on my ultraportable at 1366 by 768.

Over on the Xbox 360 the textures are so dire Bethesda has told people not to run the game of HDD , now do you know how hot and bothered the 360 gets running games off disc ? And considering we are meant to play for 100s of hours , your 360 will be breathing red rings of fire before you get to see your first Skyrim Dragon  do so ...

So let`s get real here , absolutely no official reviewer picked up on any crash , bug , sound or graphical glitch that renders Skyrim unplayable on PC , and looking less pretty than Morrowind the Xbox version on the Xbox 360.

Over on the sites that matter solutions to every problem but the one you are likely to be experiencing are being discussed....but there is no fix , because the game is a console port and is not completed code.

If you spent money on this game in it`s present form on the PC , well you probably just finished downloading a 5gb patch , which does not fix the crash to a locked up PC . Believe me I would much rather be playing the game than ranting about it , but I do not blame Bethesda , or DICE for that matter for Battlefield 3 , it would be simply awesome if just once an honest reviewer stood up for consumers and spoke the truth that these games are not fit to launch in their present state , and really you the punter and your 10k gaming rig are given the equivalent respect of a lab rat by the publishers who push the coders who impress the reviewers that make the games industry what it is today...

Fantasy: the  night before Battlefield 3 and Skyrim release on PC they get rave reviews from offical press
Reality : the night the games release MILLIONS of PC games fans are wasting their money and time trying to get these games to run

and this happens again and again because we take it!

I just made an hour long video of the first totally Falloutesque escape into the main world of Skyrim , hoping to capture the point , the totally random point where it crashes  , I actually played and recorded around 2 hours , before the dread crash locked up my entire pc , and resetting also erased the gameplay video I made! This is a simple problem , there is something wrong with the sound engine in the game , the way it is either too quiet , directional sound does not work unless you turn people to your left or right side you cannot hear them and then randomly the sound locks into beeping infinitely and your entire PC freezes...

I think it is time thegameveda dusted off some Panzer Dragoon Saga ... now that was an awesome game with Dragons ... or maybe some Redguard , after 15 or so years they must have gotten the bugs out of that one ... no wait there is another hope .. but I beta not say more about that...

If you are Hell bent on getting Skyrim  , hold off or get the PS3 version , trade it in later when the PC version hits £14.95 and they have finished coding it .  Gods I feel for anyone who splashed out on the £129 limited edition ....

still here is a cartoon to watch whilst you wait for another patch to arrive ... or the PC gaming community to come up with their own solutions ..
