Can Microsoft's Xbox One VHS games machine take on Sony's PS4 Betamax? Or will the Wii U 8 Track trump them both?

You know the story Betamax was a superior format that lost out to what was considered an inferior one: VHS .. in the world of gaming though, the best technology wins out in the end , ask Intel and AMD...or Nvidia ...the Xbox 360 may have taken on the PS3, but can Xbox One take on PS4 or even the Wii U for that matter (rise Nintendo ..up from the ashes..) ?

So let's take a look at the  Xbox One  "announcement"

The Xbox One is so  aesthetically challenged... it could launch its own tweet meme #MyXboxOneIsSoUglyThat..

Xbox One is a Sony Console 
Who gets commission on each  Xbox One Bluray drive ?

Xbox One is packed with walled garden bloatware..
Skype, Smart TV functions , Smart Glass , game DVR ..all to make up for the lull between  AAA releases that dogs new console launches ... and to combat the dominance of walled garden media sales enjoyed by iOS and Android devices...

Xbox One has a custom 8 Core CPU design .. 
Sony has seen the light of using PC design and components and is set to benefit from falling PC component prices over time ..whereas Microsoft has gone the way that Kutaragi went with the 8 core custom CPU of the PS3 ..notoriously difficult to develop for...

Xbox One  has One ..Two ...Three Operating systems 
Some would say Microsoft have difficulty maintaining one operating system on a PC , now we have a console kernel a Windows 8 layer and a bridging layer on a console! Let chaos reign ...can you imagine having to wait for this thing to update?

Xbox one has a Rocket Science level 1080p Kinect
But Kinect is no LEAP... in 2010 Kinect promised much, sold well and was known for Molyneux's Milo, lag and eventually Star Wars Kinect .. so in 2013 this new Kinect is likely to be shunned by gamers and developers alike ... no one shouts at their console at 2 am .. most of these consoles will be hidden in man caves or bedrooms and shouting at your console rarely works in a crowded living room .. So what is Kinect for ? A 1080p version could just mean a more accurate model of gamers sitting on their couches...

Xbox One has the same XBOX LIVE .. with improved matchmaking ..living in persistent worlds .. as long as you keep your  $50 or so sub going .. 

Xbox One has EA Sports but the motto should be "It's still the same game" 

Xbox One has game ..  well we will have to see ..
8 new franchises in just the first year from Microsoft Studios... and 7 sequels .. 
but is still ultimately as reliant on old franchises as a Nintendo console..

Xbox One has faux Cloud power 
lot's of mention of the Cloud .. but no equivalent to Sony and Dave Perry's GAIKAI .. unless they are holding back something .. please tell me they are holding back something...

Xbox One is a Water Cooler ?
And obsessed with taking over your TV viewing .. and pushing walled garden content to you..343 is carrying the Halo torch ..to the TV using the great Steven Spielberg... so they could not get JJ Abrams then... This will be interesting ..will watching TV shows based on games sell more games or turn people away from them ? 

In reality the Xbox One  is just going to be one more thing in your gaming world , sitting amongst tablets, phones, smart TV, PS4, Nintendo Wii U, old gen consoles.

Xbox One is launching World Wide this year ... 
Around £399 in UK money ..

So cheer up Iwata san and hit that Continue button...The Wii U launch had this beat .. just get some games into peoples hands ...a lot of games ! 

Xbox One has Call of Duty Ghosts .. 
though it is not an exclusive... and will hopefully not continue the tradition of a 3.5 hour single player campaign.. wait that was it .. the end?  

Xbox One has it's work cut out ...
Is this supposed to generate some kind of urge in viewers to want more? I hope so because that was quite the worst product reveal since that dude launched the Blackberry Playbook...

OK thin on facts, 0 cloud credentials, 0 stunning games, 0 backwards compatibility comment .. 0 for aesthetics .. promised world wide launch this year .. multi media services that you will not want to pay for as you already are using smart TVs, phones, tablets and PCs ..

To really get the next gen of gamers Microsoft had to rely on linking Windows 8, cloud services that compete with GAIKAI  and Xbox Live services need to offer and outpace what is the coolest thing about the PlayStation brand atm : PlayStation Plus and its real rewards of full AAA games..

They tried .. but this console does not compete .. with the PS4 which will have better aesthetics, GAIKAI and PlayStation Plus,as well as practically being a PC for devs.. and where  it does attempt to compete with, smart TVs, phones, tablets, PCs even Steam Boxes, it falls  short.. .. More TV is being watched AWAY from TV, more media is being consumed away from home ..or living rooms .. this console is not going to challenge that trend.. 

At this stage The Xbox ONE .. comes across as a muddled attempt to combine the different Microsoft tech and software tentacles .. a good idea to leverage all assets except some talented individual has managed to twist those tentacles together into a Gordian knot.. 

History shows and I speak as a fellow 70s Pong player Mr Spielberg , that being no.1 in the video games arena is not the same as calling yourself No. One .. Atari were once sitting where Microsoft now are with the Xbox One.. and along came Nintendo...

More on this when I get to see One ..  

Though at this stage looks it like this time Betamax(PS4)  is going to defeat VHS(Xbox One) .. and we may even see the return of the 8 track (Wii U) which with it's purer gaming angle may trump them both ..
