Before I , jaded cynic gamer that I am , get to crack the cellophane on my Jack in the Box ,Doctor and Codex Limited editions , I know that the Assassins Creed Brotherhood limited editions are the most sought after games on the planet , whilst Call Of Duty Prestige Edition , Halo Reach Legendary and soon Gran Turismo 5 Prestige Edition languish on retail and ecommerce shelves , Auditore and his brothers , in their limited editions are vanishing from normal sale . Completely predictable ...
In fact by the time you finish reading this there will not be a single one left for sale , at your normal retailer , these are games for collectors period .

This is the separation of core and new core gamers , it is core gamers that elevate Assassins Creed to the point where these editions will sell for £299 , they are so revered. Your great console led new core army COD and Halo franchises , well you will still be able to buy their prestige/legendary editions this time next year ...
Here is a game that sells on its merits , not on million dollar hype , without the bravado and brouhaha of emo outing midnight launches ..they don't even wheel Jade Raymond out that much any more ...they do not need to Assassins Creed needs not eye candy , Assassins Creed is game candy ...
This is what Lara used to manage in her heyday ,shocking her contemporary AAA Sonics and Marios ,just like Ezio is doing right now to Masterchief and the Call Of Duty Scooby gang.. oh....imagine the collectors editions with action figures Ubisoft would come up with if they had that franchise ..... manboys with dolls , the world would stop turning...
Creed is one of the only next gen franchises that commands such respect , on paper or in Hollywood gaming Kotick board room meetings it really shouldn't but year on year there is no other franchise that is so respected by fans right across the globe , you know even Snake shimmies around in Ezzios graphics engine and there can be no greater compliment than Kojima san borrowing your tech now can there?
Other AAA launches are about the game , you play through and forget them , but the launch of an Assassins Creed brings out unique out of game behaviour in adherent fans :

It also helps that there's a spiffing game to be had in the collectors box , something which other so called AAA game publishers may wish to take note .....of
